Schecter Hellraiser C-7 - is the floyd rose version worth the extra money?

I'm looking into used Hellraiser c-7's. Is the Floyd rose worth paying the extra $100 or so? Originally, I wanted a intermediate priced 7 string with passive pickups so I could put a Pegasus/sentient combo in, but the used hellraiser is going for about $400-500 (the top end being the Floyd rose) Should I buy it without, or with?

P.S. if you have any 7 string guitar suggestions please feel free to suggest a model. Thanks!

If you're going to use the Floyd, then get it. I have a Shecter 7 string, mahogany, set neck, solid strat type string through hard tail. Rosewood board. My playing style doesn't suffer for lack of a Floyd. It does still have the stock DD HB-7 set. I wired the neck series/parallel with a push/pull on the volume knob. I also swapped a regular ceramic into the bridge pickup.
I bet a Sentient/Pegasus would sound just fine. I would probably go with the Nazgul if I were to do it. Or a set of Black Winters.

If you feel like you would take advantage of a Floyd, then go for it. I never suffered for not having it and it's lead to some pretty creative ways that I get around it. I personally don't like trems at all. I like to really beat up on the strings and trems can cause me to go out of tune too easily.

A Floyd that is set up perfectly will hardly go out of tune. My San Dimas has been in tune since it's last string change/stretch in June.

So it's two questions:
Do you want the floyd/trem?
Do you want the extra set up work when necessary (ie string gauge swapping, drop tuning)?

As previously said, if you think you will use it, get it. Even if not now, you can block it for the time being. If you wanted to add one to a non Floyd guitar, it would cost you more than $100 to buy, plus, you would have charges for routing and installation.. So, cheaper in the long run to get the guitar with it. If its not something you'll use, then no

I played once with one. Very nicely built guitar. However this one buzzed with high action and plenty of relief. I knew smth was not right so I dumped it for an Ibanez UV70p.

True, but there is also the issue of having to reset it up every time I wanna change tunings. I also meant that I pick pretty hard and that can cause strings to go sharp right after the initial pick, especially on trems.

Hence my second question.
And regarding the string going sharp at initial pick attack, that's not something exclusive to trems. I myself am also a Gorilla picker and never have any troubles with the string going sharp because it is pretty minimal. A floyd will never go out of tune from hard picking.

If anyting the floating trem would work against initial increased string tension thus giving the sharp effect a little amortization, but truth is it happens to all guitars.

I was just speaking from my experiences. But your questions are completely valid.

I have two guitars without a trem, every time I play them I unconsciously reach for the bar and find none. I love them both but that simple fact means neither could ever be my no.1.

For me, yeah, the extra 100 would be more than "worth it".

If the above doesn't describe you then you have just answered your own question. ;)

Jackson 7 string X series would probably be better quality and a much easier to use neck.

I had a hellraiser 7 hardtail, the neck was way to thick and it was just a very meh guitar along with every Schecter I have owned. Definitely check out Jackson X series 7 strings!
