Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

Gooch

I grabbed one of the very few left in the online retail stores (less than 8) and they are discontinued. Anyone have one or have experience with it? I'll have mine tomorrow. Thanks!

Re: Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

Played one back in the day a bit, thought it was a great guitar. With a few upgrades they can really rock!

Re: Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

I'm super psyched. I was actually going to get the USA Custom versino of this, but read the MIK is heavier (double bound) and has the same hardware (Bridge), so I figured I could get new pups, electronics, and even a new neck fro MUCH cheaper. Plus, I like heavier guitars. This one varies from 8-10 lbs. The USA is about 7.5.

My only concern is the placement of the toggle switch. I'm heavy handed and get into my jams, and I also knock my strat's 5 way selector out of whack at times, so we'll see.

Any more experiences? Cheers!

Beautiful, simple clean design. I'm really warming up to Schecters more. Love mine.

Is that a Tele bridge?

Re: Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

Yes, it's their version of the tele bridge hum. It's the same one they put on the USA Custom PT.

...Got it this morning. Looks and feels great. The next is similar to the Standard Thin that I have on my strat from Warmoth. and it's a 14.5 scale, which is something I'm not used to, but it feels pretty seamless from my LP and Strat. Setup is good, but I prefer 10-52's; it came with 10's, which I love. I'm gonna play it here in a few hours on my newly serviced EVH 5153. Can't wait.

Re: Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

I have a PT Elite and a PT Custom. They're both great guitars.

Re: Schecter PT Standard - Anyone?

Sorry, I mean 14.5 fretboard radius.

Got the above guitar today. Been playing it all night, and I need to get to bed, so I won't write a detailed review, but I'll say the following:

-Sounds stunning. Pickups don't need to be changed. They are as good as the stock Gibson's that came in my LP Trad Pro, if not better.
-Hardware is top notch. Nothing cheap about this guitar.
-This is my first maple neck and it's cool. However, this is a 14.5 radius and I'm not used to that. I'm used to my Gibby 60's or Warmoth standard thin, whatever size that is. But, it's easy to play on except the strings are new, but very "dry". I'm used to Elixer's, so maybe I'm too used to coated strings.

Overall, I never liked any of the Schecter's I played nor they way the looked. This is a totally different beast. It's hefty (about 8.5 - 9 lbs), but it plays really easy. I still plan to get a Warmoth neck put on it later, but for now I'll leave it stock.

Love it!

It's no wonder to me they discontinued this guitar. For the price point, it is a HUGE steal. This may be way they're going toward the USA Custom's with their PT's.
