Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

Re: Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

When you turn 20, you'll understand ;)

Wait... so in 4 months I'll magically hate the guitar and/or think it's cartoonish? Drastic change there, dude. Idk, I just don't find anything cartoonish about it. But that's just my own perspective.

@H8Red442: Ya know, I've never thought about that. But they do have a similar look. I kinda prefer the avenger shape, though.

It's your generation. It's the style. I can't stand that Schecter thing or most of their stuff really. But I love me some old school BC Rich and Jackson guitars.

In two years you'll wish you hadn't bought the trend-of-the-week Shecter thing. That PRS looks classy enough to rock for years.

Yeah, that's sorta the gist of what I'm saying. I think post #69 is more realistic though.

I respectfully disagree. We can wait two years and put this to the test, though. ;D I haven't bought one, so I can't regret buying it. But I assure you, my opinion toward the guitar will change very little with time. I personally, wouldn't invest in the thing unless I had money to blow. I don't like investing in signature guitars because I play my guitars on stage. If I play with a signature guitar, it just comes off as me looking like I want to be another guitarist rather than myself. If I had the money to waste, I'd buy one in a heartbeat though.

Hey, I'm in that generation and think the custom looks ridiculous. When is it that guitarists will realize that over the top signature models look dumb on everyone except the artist?

Is there a rob option here?

Yup.

I agree with that statement. But I still like the way the Synyster guitars look.

I just mean to say that just like skinny jeans and emo haircuts, this guitar is currently in fashion just the way big hair and fluorescent colored BC Rich guitars were in the 80s. While I never bought into the spandex and big hair, the BC Rich shapes stayed with me as might this shape from Schecter stay with someone that likes it now.

My pointies look silly and garish to a lot of people but I love em. I can't stand to look at a Fender Strat or Tele or even a Gibson SG and all but the most highly appointed Les Pauls with thinking they still look old and boring to me.

This obviously doesn't apply to all players from all generations but what's new hits with some and what's classic hits with others. I don't the classic stuff and what is not considered modern looks to me like it's trying too hard... to each his own.

I can't believe this thread lasted this long on the subject of looks.

It's the big dividing issue between the two guitars. They're both probably very nice for the money. A lot of us are picking the PRS by default because the Synyster isn't our thing.

Four pages is nothing for a topic like this.
