Schematics request for HH, 1V,2T, threeway toggle switch with push/pull on tones

Hello there, I am new here, and my native language is not english, so please forgive me if make some mistakes. I am looking for somebody to upload schematics for my new pickups configurations. If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate that. Here is what I need: I own a set of SD Invaders, and I'd like to set them as follows. Two humbuckers, 1 master volume, 2 tones and a 3way toggle switch. I plan to use two push/pull potentiometers for the tones. The tones are gonna be independent and work both as tone and coil splitter each and solely for the pickup they are assigned to. Being more specific:
both tones pushed down: 1 bridge h, 2 bridge h+neck h, 3 neck h
bridge tone pulled and neck pushed: 1 bridge single coil, 2 bridge single coil + neck full hum, 3 neck hum
both tones pulled: 1 bridge single coil, 2 bridge single coil + neck single coil, 3 neck single coil
bridge tone pushed and neck pulled: 1 bridge hum, 2 bridge hum + neck single coil, 3 neck single coil

I dunno if I was clear enough. I hope somebody has some time to give to answer my request
Thank you in advance
Raffaele

Hi StonedWorm, and welcome to the forum!

Sorry it took so long for you to get a response... they usually don't get past us that easily. Your request is no problem at all. I took the liberty of splitting the bridge pickup to the north coil and the neck pickup to the south coil so you would still be hum-canceling in the center position with both pickups split.

Anyway, I think this diagram will work well for you:

Let me know if you have any questions, and be sure to come back and tell us how your project came out... good luck! [emoji1303]

You did a great job, thank you very much. It was my fault not to notice the scroll menu on the main schematics page on the website. There I found what I was looking for, but what you gave me is something even better and I will go with this variation definitely. I was indeed in doubt about the best single coils to choose and the correct way to select them. Thank you very much from Italy ;)

Sorry to bother again.I just noticed you described your schematics saying you chose to activate the north coil for the bridge and the south one on the neck. I cannot tell by the schematics if they represent exactly what you had in mind (I will rely on trust, of course), but the image on the left lower corner describing the possible combinations is showing something different I guess...both north coils are activated in that one. Is the schematics correct and the description wrong? Or viceversa? Are the both correct? Or have I misunderstood everything?
I am comparing the schematics you gave me with the schematics suggested by the site diagram generator to try and understand what's different so to get how to achieve the coil selection between north and south ones. I noticed that you connected capacitors (i use .47 ones by the way) on a side lug instead of the middle one. Is that ok? What's the difference?
In the image I am attaching you can see what the main site suggests, and I indicated with red arrows something I don't get...is that normal that on one pot they connected the lug to ground and on the other one is left unconnected?

It's no trouble at all. The north vs south coil is a little confusing, but let me try to explain it a little better.

North and south, with pickups, are talking about magnetic polarity rather than physical position like on a map. Seymour Duncan usually puts the north coil on top with their bridge pickups and on the bottom with their neck pickups. This makes the magnetic polarities of the set look something like this:

(South)
(North) neck pickup

(North) bridge pickup
(South)

So, in terms of PHYSICAL position, to choose the north coil in the bridge and the south coil in the neck, you would actually be running the TOP coils as you look at them.

There's no real difference between the two ways of doing it... both will give you the same result. It's simply a matter of preference on the part of the person doing it... and the only reason I do my diagrams that way is because I'm just used to it. Electrically, they are both doing the same thing.

Good eye! No... that's NOT normal!

You, my friend, have managed to notice and point out a mistake in the official diagrams.

The setup for the bridge pickup is fine, but they are missing the wire that tells the neck pickup HOW to split. If the lug was connected to GROUND (like the bridge pickup) then it would split to the north coil. If the lug was connected to HOT (like with the neck pickup in my diagram) it would split to the south coil.

The way they show It being wired, if you pull up the push/pull for the neck tone, nothing happens.

Well my friend, your explanation was 100% exhaustive. All of my doubts have now an answer. Somebody should tell them about their mistake over there. I would have made a mistake if it wasn't for you. Now I know how to wire everything to get the results I wanted.
The pickups I am referring to, were already installed and working as simple humbuckers with no coil split (1 volume, 2 tones). My 1983's Bc Rich Stealth has reached a point of no return in terms of time and damages, so I decided to renew it, and change most of the old hardware in the process. Considering that when I originally bought that guitar, it was already not "all original parts" and very badly kept, there is no point in keeping it "vintage" anymore. I love that guitar, I play that guitar, i need that guitar. I always wanted that old eighties Nj Series so I didn't care about overall conditions at the time. I made a choice I never repented, but I knew there was a lot of work to do. It's not easy finding such guitars in Italy, believe me. It's been an odissey to find it over 15 years ago. To this point, I already made very radical changes. I removed the old tremolo, closed the hole where it was installed with a handshaped alder piece, replaced the bridge with a Schaller 3D6 fixed bridge, replaced the plastic cracked nut with a handmade brass one (a lifetime unbreakable piece of art), rebuilt a missing cracked corner located where the neck is bolted to the body (that was a pain in the ass, since that cracked part made the neck sway and shift the strings out of the fingerboard). Now I am at the final step of the hard work I have been through, and I decided to add some new tones capabilities to my n1 guitar by adding the coil split possibility. I am about to remove the remaining poly finish and repaint it. When I am done, I will put back the hardware in place and rewire the whole thing the way you suggested. Now you understand how precious and appreciated it was your help. That's gonna be, as we say in Italy, like putting the cherry on the top of the cake (hope this one is makes sense in english :D). Thank you very much

You're very welcome... and glad to help!

Oh yes, and it made perfect sense in English! [emoji6]
