Has anyone tried this ?In another guitar besides a Schenker sig?
If so ,what was the verdict?

It looks a bit like a super D as far as the specs go?

These USA made Dimarzio Signature Michael Schenker pickups are the original style pickups installed in the Dean Michael Schenker Custom V guitars. Custom designed with plenty of output and mid-boost to boot your amp into overdrive; these humbuckers put out a hot, thick tone with a tight bottom-end.

Re: Schenker Pickup

It is my understanding that this thing is mostly a Duncan Duncan, that means a regular size ceramic magnet and awg43.

The Distortion has a large magnet and while it is awg43 the hex polepiece change things massively.

Re: Schenker Pickup

Hmm thanks for the info .

I was thinking/hoping the schenker might be less output since I am a fan of the low /medium output ceramic humbuckers .

Not sure how you would boost the mids though on a ceramic pickup
without also boosting the windings and thus the bass as well?
Maybe each bobbin of the schenker pickup is differently wound ?

I have come to the conclusion for me at least and my ear and playing preferences that on a brighter strat -style guitar ,I like ceramic neck and
alnico bridge to balance out the frequency differences between both slots.
Conversely on a darker ,les paul style guitar ,I tend to favor ceramic bridge and p-90 alnico in neck -weird eh?

I even thought about trying an Evo neck in the bridge to see what
the results might be .

The one style magnet that has me curious is the alnico 2 .Never tried it .
Wonder if it might go well in a strat bridge slot -ie a Seth Lover or Alnico 2 Duncan perhaps?

Re: Schenker Pickup

As far as I can tell, this is a awg43 (aka medium) pickup with medium caliber pickups.

Why not use a Duncan Custom if you like medium ceramics anyway? It's what Schenker did before be went sponsored guitars.

Re: Schenker Pickup

I have not heard this pickup.
I always think of the Duncan Custom when I hear Schenker, especially classic Schenker.

Good point ,but I found that in the strat type guitars there was a harshness
with the custom although there was a lot of "goodness" too -lol .I think that one might be best for gibsons perhaps?
