School me on on SG's

Re: School me on on SG's

Anyway, SG's are neck heavy, and all their headstocks are busted.

Certainly words of wisdom! 'Neck heavy' isn't an issue for many of us, obviously, and there's plenty of guys with SG's (the vast majority) that have never seen a headstock-break on one.

SG's are a very distinctive design, and aren't going to appeal to everyone, but they have legions of fans.

Re: School me on on SG's

I have a stock 1989 SG Special that feels and sounds as good as any SG I have ever played. I got it used for $600 and love it! Almost sounds as big as my LPs.

Re: School me on on SG's

Well mine may not be a Gibson but it definaetely isn't neck heavy and with the Bro/ A2P neck it sounded fantastic at last Saturdays gig. It sounded so awesome it went in to auto-pilot and made the band play several ACDC tracks where as we only usually do a couple! Ha ha ha

Re: School me on on SG's

I've seen standards go for around $600 before. I think it really depends on where you live. I happen to live in the San Francisco area, which is an AMAZING area for gear deals. I once saw an Orange Rockerverb 50 and matching 2x12 cab for $400.

if its too GOOD to be true... ;)
