School me on the Ibanez RG

Re: School me on the Ibanez RG

Mine is an RG-120, yes I know the entry model.100_4773.jpg
Picked it up for less than a bill a few years back. It has since had a Mayhem set in Triple Shots installed, .047 Orange Drop cap installed. Recently switched the bridge to a TB-15 and put a RCA4 into the SH-6n. Oh and TusqXL string saddles and nut. Put 5 springs on the trem and run Cobalt Skinny top/Heavy bottoms. I bough it for the 24 fret neck that I couldn't have bought by itself for less than a bill. Now, if I could just find a mahogany or basswood body for it...

Re: School me on the Ibanez RG

I wasn't a fan of the Wizard III it's too round on the back. If I didn't have guitars with premium & Wizard II necks I probably wouldn't notice but it just feels wrong for an Ibanez IMHO. It's closer in feel to my Jackson DKMGT than it is to my other Ibanez

Re: School me on the Ibanez RG

The funny part is that the Wizard Premium neck is nearly identical to those of the new Charvel Pro Mods.

Re: School me on the Ibanez RG

Maybe a bit thicker, I'm not sure, but I remember that the profile is similar.

That one hasn't got a wizard neck right? I sort of have the GRG170 lying around back home, it's definitely got a fatter neck than the Wizard on my JEM.

*edit* Never mind I looked it up and its got a Wizard II.

I find the Wizard to be the flattest neck I've ever played, even flatter than the thin-U's on ESP/LTD's and D-shapes on the Jackson, the latter two being slightly rounder IME.

I've got an older MIJ Pro-Mod, and the neck supposedly identical to the new MIM ones. Mine's got a a still slim thin-C profile neck, and its definitely rounder and more substantial than the Wizard III neck, and IMO much more comfortable to play on.

Re: School me on the Ibanez RG

Until you said so, I wasn't sure of which neck it had, only that I liked it. Thank you, now I know for certain.
