Score one for the good guys.

I'm a baaaaaaaaad influence. At church, I've been playing either my baby Marshall clone or my Vibrochamp, while the other guitar player has been using a POD XT Live modeler through the PA and vocal monitors.

Today, he showed up with a Blues Junior and a bunch of stomp boxes. YES!

I lead by example - never once busted on his modeler, no matter what I think about them.

Re: Score one for the good guys.

Tube distortion and Marshall stacks. I guess its been awhile since I've been to church! :D

hahaha sweet story. Some day everybody will realize electric guitars have sounded great since the 50's...no need to digitize them...

Actually, my Marshall is an 18-Watter clone in a 1x12 combo, and I keep it pretty clean for church.

Yo, Artie, I still use a POD XTL occasionally (especially on Wednesday evenings), but my rig this morning was:

Parker Fly Deluxe (Brobucker/A2P)-->Weeping Demon Wah-->Dynacomp-->Twin Tube Classic-->Phase 90-->DD6 Delay-->Verbzilla-->Visual Volume-->Celtic Franklin

If we weren't playing at such low volumes, I wouldn't need as many effects.

BUT, it's stage volume that is minimized. House volume is rather loud.

Re: Score one for the good guys.

i like modelers to a point.... i think Modelers to that high gain heavy low end sound so well for the buck it is scary!!!! but they suck for cleans and od sounds i have found...

But i have a sweet tooth for small tube combos....

Re: Score one for the good guys.

I've only ever been to one church that ever had live instruments such as guitars and drums in it and it was an Evangelist, which I was brought to unknowingly. Needless to say, I ran out of there fearing for my life.

Re: Score one for the good guys.

Around here, it's almost impossible to find a church that doesn't have a contemporary service. Seems the congregations almost require it.

Re: Score one for the good guys.

a community church rents out the cafe in the building i work in on Sundays for service... they have a huge band.... 6 yeras ago when they first started using our building they had a PA big enough to play Torontos Massey Hall... it was so funny seeing a road case full of Crown power amps and these huge speakers and sub bins!!!!!
