Went to guitar center today just becuase I haven't been in a while and I wanted to play some guitars. I'd been in the store about 45 minutes when I found it. A barely used 2003 Fender Deluxe Fat Strat. It has a mint green pickguard which still had the platic on it and the nice rounded heel so that I can reach the high frets so much easier. There's the deluxe trem with the slip in arm. The LSR roller nut which so far keep it in tune really well. Abalone dot fret markers, the neck is very sweet. I can't find any flaw on the neck at all.
It was listed at $599. I thought it was too good to pass up. I asked what I could get it for if I paid cash. If figured that they wouldn't come down much at all, since it was already priced just right. The fella said he could only go for $580. I tried for a few minutes to get him to $550 but he said that they had similar ones go for $700 or even $800. I'm sure they have. This one was supposedly just traded in yesterday ( do they always say that?) I know that if I waited it would be gone.
I offered $580 if they threw in some strings ( string dont' cost them a thing but at least that saves ne a few bucks) So After tax it was $609 . I had to go to a bar across the street to use the ATM machine.I ended up paying $500 cash and $109 on a credit card. I also had then throw in a guitar box so that I can ship out my Mexi Tele that I think I'll sell to finance some of this. I'm really happy, I think I got a lot of guitar for not much money! The only flaw on the body is some slight scratches on the back that I bet I could buff out but I won't even bother. I've seen floor models that looked much worse.
