That's it ; i just swap all the screws of my Demon ( in the neck of my Ibanez Roadstar RS 530 ; basswood body , 24 frets , rosewood fingerboard , a bright guitar full of mids ) with the 12 allen head screws from a Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell , and this turned the sh-12 even more to the bright side of life !
Now it sound just like a cross between the Jazz and a pittbull !
Who want to try ?

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

i have a 17k c5 with all allen head screws and its a killer pup. the allen heads give you a little tighter, brigher tone

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

I did this on a 500T and it gave it a tighter attack but made it a little too thin. I need to try longer screws as that adds some bass, but with the hex heads it will keep the top end.

How did you get the C5 to 17k? Custom shop? Did it give it more mids?

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

Can one get those allen heads at Lowes, Home Depot, etd...? I'd like to try that on one of my neck PG's.

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

Jolly not sure about Lowes, but pretty sure HD doesn't carry the right size. I ordered mine from www.McMaster.com. AceHardware carries the right size but you pay almost 3 times the price as online.

Jeremy . . . do you know if the Allens were the same length and material as the originals? I'm just curious if it was the "Allen heads" or shifting of the magnetic focus that caused the change in tone. Or both.

That sounds like it would hurt my ears.

I'm pretty sure it had to do with the material and density of the screws. Different properties would give you a different sound (slot-heads, allens, slugs). I prefer the slot-heads, I thought the Demon neede LESS highs and more mids. Just my preference. Rock on.

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

The Demon is a very bright p-u in bridge but it needs more bite and less bass in the neck that's what the allens are giving anyway (think about the full shred , same principle ) .

Re: Screaming Demon From Hell !!!

Hey Nuntius , you have a Custom in your Roadstar , isn't it too harsh on treebles ? my roadstar is very bright and the Custom5 witch have smoother highs is already quite agressive in this guitar !
And what did you put on the neck ?
If one day you sell your guitar ... yum yum !

To put it bluntly: It was definitely the shift in the focus of the magnetic field. Because that´s what the whole purpose of changing the screws and adjusting polepieces is ;)

Not the answer you were looking for, I know. But physically speaking the "right" answer ;)
