Screaming Eagle Humbucker

I was reading an article of Guitar magazine from 1990 or so and it was on Queensryche. It listed their gear, and in the guitar section it said that they used Seymour Duncan Screaming Eagle humbuckers. I was instantly curious because I've never heard of that model of pickup from Seymour Duncan. Does anyone know what model this may have turned into, or if they still make these in the custom shop? I've googled and what not and found nothing.

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

It could be some kind of miss print. Seymour Duncan makes a screaming demon pickup and eminance makes a screamin eagle speaker....possibly some sort of confusion?

Personally ive never heard of a SD screaming eagle pickup.

Welcome to the forum btw

That's what I thought at first. Maybe so. Here is a scan of said article on a Queensryche fan site.

It's the pink area to the right.

Thanks for the welcome and the response. :D

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

ive never heard of it, i thought they used jbs

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

Screamin Eagle would be a good name for the JB since it's Seymour's flagship pickup.

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

They most likely didn't know what they were talking about. I've seen guys say they use Duncan Super Distortion pickups, and stuff like that.

Or maybe they were custom shop pups.

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

I have to share this... As it reminds me.. I work with a guy who claims he is a good player. (he may be, Ive never heard him) A couple of times I have engaged him in guitar tech talk. Now, sadly, Im more proficient with gear than playing. Anyhow, one day I brought a guitar in and was explaining how I had made the duncan custom into a custom 8. And he got real serious and said, "oh yeah! Duncans! My fav has always been the Screamin Meemie pickup that Duncan makes!" I tried to correct him and stated they make a screamin Demon and he said," that ones ok, but the Screamin Meemie that Lynch used was crushing!!"
At that point, I left it alone...

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

I kind of figured it was a farce. I was just curious because I've never heard of such a pickup coming from Seymour Duncan, and I've been thinking of making the switch to Seymour Duncans in my Carvin, and have begun evaluations of a few models for consideration. Thanks for all your replies none the less.

Re: Screaming Eagle Humbucker

Dude....... What a GORGEOUS Carvin!! How do you like it??

I had a SC90 a few years back. (have also owned dc125, and V220 ) but have had to sell due to financial probs.
Anyhow, the SC90 was an amazing guitar and incredible looking. I did have a bright overtone to it and was alittle sterile sounding.
My Sc90 had a Floyd too.. I put a PATB3 Blues Saraceno in the bridge and it sounded big, fat and warm! I put a pearly gates in the neck.

Nice SC90. Sucks you had to sell it. I absolutely love my Carvin and I will be ordering another C66C for myself for christmas. It's been my number one guitar since I've had it. I replaced the pots and cap in it and that opened it up quite a bit. It still has a bright quality to it, but I like bright. The BEM maple fret board is proof of that, but the sterile quality usually is due to the poorly crafted mini pots and ceramic garbage caps they use from the factory.
I also replaced the 5-way switch with a 3 way because I have no use for single coil sounds, and one of my favorite positions is the center with both pickups active. I was actually thinking about going with the PATB3 set in it. I figured it would warm it up a bit, but I don't know if that's what I want yet.
