SD '59's in a mahogany-bodied S470?

Hi.

Just got my son his Ibanez S470. The stock pickups sound pretty tinny to me.
Has anyone paired these pickups in this particular guitar?

Logically speaking, a midrange-heavy mahogany body would benefit from mid-scooped pickups. Did I get that correctly?

If so, will the combination make it a more versatile guitar? meaning will it do shred, funk, blues, classic rock, and some metal too?

'59 neck and JB bridge would rock in that guitar. I used to have one and used that combo.
