S-Deco!

Ah, I should just buy one! :bling:

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

Can't say I know what any of those are, except the 78 is the EVH model (unless the lawyers are watching, then it's not).
The Phat Staple looked to me like a Parallel Axis P90 or something.

And if you want them to make it a production model, buy enough of them to support a full production run, since that's probably what it will take.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

^^ I agree 100% on the sales volume point.

Other than the Brobucker and `78, there isn´t a single pickup on that list that I´d like to see become a production model. And the Brobucker is a niche pickup that I don´t think is that well known outside the forum.... therer are other CS pickups that interest me significantly more...

But the whole point of the CS is to be able to continue to offer pickups that aren´t heavy sellers, like the Iommi or RTM. ;)

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

It misses the point to do it as a multi option poll - why should you want a pickup not to be in the market? a "pick just one answer" poll might show the SD a little more about what the market wants.

Anyway - I picked the 78... the 9k to 14k range is a little thin in the SD line IMO. Might as well be a Brobucker or the S-Deco.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

I'd vote none.

I figure, sales volume being a complete guess, that the price of the custom shop pickups subsidizes some of the other stuff I buy in a roundabout way. Plus, pickups like the 78 and s-deco being custom shop adds a bit of mystique and uniqueness to them. It would be like taking away the mojo and aura of the product to move it to regular production.

Although, I'd love to have a poll of which pickups would you remove from the Duncan line if they were going to add something back in. There's a handful of products I look at and think, "Who really buys that at high enough volume to sell in the regular line?"

I'd wager to say that part of the line is thin due to the amount of wire that fits on a bobbin. Between 9-14K would take a skilled hand most likely rather than a factory grunt filling the coil full with wire. They would have to partially fill a coil or get fancy with it to make it in that range.

I got to fully agree on both points. Who the hell buys stag mags?

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

I don't want them to change the Bro or the EVH, Demartini, etc into production, because if they did, this forum would be filled with threads about people going on about how the older ones were better...

That said, even if they don't move them from the CS, I'd love a permanent year round Antiquity/CS discount!

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

78 ! i love this 9k humbucker, i have two of them done by a boutique winder. They have a tad more beef while staying crisp! A kind of under wound Custom (maybe 12 -13 k of 43AWG) with an A8 would be a breeze too.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

For me 78 (9k) and the Brobucker. Sd needs more regular production 10k humbuckers :)

Ah, point well taken. I totally agree BigJoe77.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

Hmmm.... they are that weird huh?

i was planning on putting it in the neck of my mkIII LP (5way and a middle single) but have since ordered a phat staple which i expect is going to be pretty hard to beat.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

i like the stagmag in the neck, not so much in the bridge

Is it just a hard thing to do with the SD PAF design or are we talking about all humbuckers here?

How do Dimarzio do it? they have a huge line of pickups around 10-11K...

Also, the Screamin' Demon is a 10K pickup.
