Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

I'm interested in the rod magnet 3+3 and the bar magnet 3+3.

I am determined to get a good bright sound of the neck of a Les Paul and if it is the last thing I do, and these suckers might help in the quest.

With humbuckers like the 78 it would be pointless to move from Custom Shop to regular production since they would probably lose the mojo and they aren't that much more expensive in the Custom Shop.

Rod magnet pickups shouldn't be so sensitive to hand-winding and other custom shop features and I sure would like to try them a little cheaper than $320 for one of each. So there would be real benefit from moving them.

'78 for me.... Why? Because I bought the "two wire" and now want / need the four wire but would love it at half price.:naughty:

The 12-screw minis as regular-production mini Antiquities would sure be nice.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

I'd like to see the 78 model with a regular production price, I'd throw one in one of my guitars

thatll probably never happen. antiquitys are pretty much vintage re-creations and ive never seen an old 12 pole mini.

I certainly don't expect it to happen. But if it did become regular production, I'd like to see it with the slight touches that differentiate an Antiquity from the regular pickups.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

I'm dyin to try a brobucker, 78, and sdecos. The only thing that has stopped me thus far is price. They are likely worth it but I have always rationalized getting a set of pups for the same money.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

Brobucker. It started with the public and should be available to the public at productions costs.

That said, not everything in the custom shop should be production. Someone wanting it cheaper does not justify diluting what the custom shop is

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

78, I'd like to try it one day. No way of knowing, but I'd imagine it would have to be one of (if not the) most popular custom shop PU, given all the threads Eddie Voiced Harmonics generates, surely it would sell more than some of the other regular production models.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

Even though this is an old thread, I can't believe nobody said it yet:

The Custom 8. The King of Everything That's Holy in tone.

And no, I don't care I can have it as a Shop Floor Custom model. Being in Italy, convincing a dealer to place the order to the importer is by no means an easy task. And they'll make you pay as a Custom Order anyway!

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

You can order a JB with double Fillisters and an A2 mag as a shop floor custom.

Interesting! That's the same as the Holdsworth or an educated guess based on similarity in looks and specs?

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

The Demon is 43 awg, I think he meant 42 awg 10K coils, but yeah...

I voted Bro, 78 and Bugsey, but you could swap that one with the RTM/JB2/Super V and I'd be happy.

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

Brobucker for sure. The 78 & s-deco too! If I had it like that I would have all three. All the good reviews 'bout the custom8 makes me wonder if SD might consider a production model.(Maybe there leavin' all the fun to us mag swapping geeks lol!)

Re: SD Custom Shop humbuckers you want to be Regular Production Humbuckers

For the sake of accessibility to me, I'd like the Iommi/El Diablo to be regular production. But from a sales perspective, the '78 is probably the only cost-effective one there.
