A friend has lent me his Samick 335 copy which he has fitted with Gibson 57 H/Bs but which he intends to put into an LP copy he's making at the moment. Despite being a cheap guitar, it plays well and sounds pretty good too - no doubt a lot to do with the Gibson pups and I'm thinking that I wouldn't mind buying it from him if I could put some decent pups in it.
I've got an SD Seth Lover in the neck of my tele and was wondering whether I could put that in the bridge position of the 335 with an SD Greenie humbucker in the neck position. I'm a big fan of the Peter Green out of phase tone so any humbucker equipped guitar that I would own has to be able to capture at least some of that tone.
Given that the Seth Lover and Greenie pups are both vintage tone type pups I assume there wouldn't be any major problems with one overpowering the other.
Has anyone used both of these pups on a guitar and could you tell me if it's a good combo to go with?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
