SD Greenie humbucker

A friend has lent me his Samick 335 copy which he has fitted with Gibson 57 H/Bs but which he intends to put into an LP copy he's making at the moment. Despite being a cheap guitar, it plays well and sounds pretty good too - no doubt a lot to do with the Gibson pups and I'm thinking that I wouldn't mind buying it from him if I could put some decent pups in it.

I've got an SD Seth Lover in the neck of my tele and was wondering whether I could put that in the bridge position of the 335 with an SD Greenie humbucker in the neck position. I'm a big fan of the Peter Green out of phase tone so any humbucker equipped guitar that I would own has to be able to capture at least some of that tone.

Given that the Seth Lover and Greenie pups are both vintage tone type pups I assume there wouldn't be any major problems with one overpowering the other.

Has anyone used both of these pups on a guitar and could you tell me if it's a good combo to go with?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Re: SD Greenie humbucker

Peter Green has his own signature SD pickup???????? Or am I just confused...?

Tada!

My recommendation to the OP is to flip the magnet on a vintage voiced pickup. That will give you the out of phase sound you are after.

Stay tuned a member with more knowledge in this area than me should be able to give you the details and the best way to go about it.

Re: SD Greenie humbucker

Well I guess I could get another Seth Lover and then flip the magnet but, as I'm always a bit wary of opening things up unless I know exactly what I'm doing I'd rather just buy a pickup that's already the way I want it and then just install it.

I'd hate to damage a brand new pickup and then have to buy another one!

There must be someone out there who's installed a Greenie pup with a Seth Lover and who can comment on how good or otherwise the combination is???

I sent my '77 Super Lead(AL8) to Bare Knuckle for rewind and he told me it was reverse wound so he rewound it like that(7.9k). I have a MCP ALII Blackbelt in the neck standard wound and the BK rewind in the bridge and the middle position sounds very nice...real squawky and vowel like. It makes that middle position much more interesting.
