SD Jazz or Pearly Gate

Would the SD Jazz pickup be better for classic rock and hard rock than the PG? I have a Jazz pickup and was thinking about putting it the place of my PG in the bridge of my LP standard.Thanks.

depends on a lot of things.

the guitar, the amp, your playing style, etc., etc.

I was going to replace the PG in the bridge of my LP standard.Mostly doing classic rock and hard rock.The amp is a Marshall JCM2000-Cab is a 4x12 with V30s.

The Demon would be a better choice than a Jazz in the bridge. A C8 is also an excellent pup.

Personally I'd stick with the PG. They are great pickups in a Les Paul for pretty much everything rock. Is there anything in particular that you don't like about the PG?

I love my PG/LP combo for classic rock, blues, and harder rock too... what don't you like about it? Also, which 2000 do you have, DSL or TSL? I've had a tough time getting anything above average out of the TSL, regardless of guitar & pups.

EDIT: scratch that, just noticed you play a DSL. Nice!

Thanks for the reply.What my problem with the PG is Im getting a half cocked wah sound.I also have a split pot so I can do the single coil thing.That maybe whats wrong.I dont know.Im not a tec buy any streach.I did look at the pots and they are 500k.I was thinking of getting rid of the spliter and just going with a Brobucker,but if its a wireing thing I will take it and get it fixed right.Also I was thinking about having something a little hotter to hit the front end of my amp.The SD Jazz is in the neck of the LP with the PG.

I have a DSL100.Trace at Voodoo upgraded the trannies to MM and installed a MM choke.I got JJ KT77s in the power section and Tong Sol 12AX7s in the pre.Im also going to do a speaker change in my 4x12.WGS et65s and Reaper50 or Green Beret.

Thanks for the reply.The C8 is also one I have been researching along with the Brobucker.I was wanting something a little hotter to push the amp a little.I may have a problem with the way the PG is wired.Getting a half cocked wah tone.

Thanks for any suggestions.Im learning alot about pickups and I just want to get the right one for what I do.Pickups will be going in a LP Standard.It has 500k pots now.If they need to be changed let mt know.It can be bright but I turn the tone knob back a little or back off the treble on the amp.
