I can't decide to replace the pickups in my esp viper with duncan jb's or passive emg's
Any opinions

If you aren't sure, go with a Jazz neck and JB bridge. You'll never go back. I promise you right now you'll probably love it. EMG passives can't even begin to compare.

i dont like passive emgs. I played them in a jackson, and they sound kind of bland. They dont have the tight crunch that other pickups have

If we were comparing the JB to the 81 we might have a discussion. But the JB will take on any passive EMG any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

the passive EMGs are the budget line ones, aren't they?

for all round performance, there's little JB/Jazz can't do

In short terms:don't get the EMG passives!!

As everyone else said, dont get the passive emgs. However, if your looking for very awesomely high output almost like an active EMG that is actually a passive, check out the Duncan Distortion, its incredible!

if you want passives duncan is much better than emg...only consider active emg's

I'll echo that. If you're considering EMGs, go with the active ones. Otherwise, Duncan, in my opinion, are the best sounding passive pickups in the business.
