I've noticed the pickup booster works with some amps, but others, like the bassman 10, well, it only seems to make them louder.

In your expirience, what amps do & don't work with the booster

I have gotten them to work on bassman 50's, and hot rods

but they didn't work on bassman 10's or this old twin, not sure of the year

You should mod your pickup booster to work on all amps...then your mods would be vault worthy...hell, maybe even Seymour would pay you to tell him how to do it so everybody could have this "Super Pick-up Booster"!!!

If the amp has a high volume ceiling that's usually all it is gonna do. All it is is flat eq gain which is more signal or volume. Mine makes my amps louder and boosts the signal like it should. I think it works VERY well on tube amps with master volumes. My Z it works great on as well as my BF vibro-champ (makes it very loud as well) works well with the twin (makes it loud as well)

Luke Duke nailed it. Odds are the SD pup booster is just that: a booster for your amp. Most boosters I've played are made to change the tone slightly and add more volume. They aren't going to fully replace an overdrive pedal. Some amps that don't have much headroom will work fine with a boost for clipping the signal, but amps like the Twin have so much watts and headroom, that it'll take a lot to really push the amp to break up.

Some amps that don't have much headroom will work fine with a boost for clipping the signal, but amps like the Twin have so much watts and headroom, that it'll take a lot to really push the amp to break up.

And there you go (and to Luke Duke as well), the booster works on all amps period! It's a matter of understanding voltage and headroom, a little thing they call gain structure. The original post wasn't very descript when it stated that the booster worked on some amps, and not others ... kinda left us to guess what the end effect was that Drew was referring to ... ability of overdrive was what we all had to assume here. Details man, not enough information ... gotta tell us these things.
I can't comment about the *dissing* thing, but I would assume it was just a playful joke ...
