SDs for a Schecter 006 Elite

As the thread title states, I'm after a bridge humbucker for a Schecter 006 Elite.
Basically a superstrat body, mahogany, tunomatic, maple/rosewood set neck. S/H pickup config.

I've narrowed it down to the Custom, Custom Custom, and Screaming Demon.
Which would sound best in the mahogany body?

I'd like a Van Halen sort of brown sound, playing classic/modern rock.

Also, what would be a suitable single coil or stacked humbucker for the neck position?

Re: SDs for a Schecter 006 Elite

I heard the Custom Custom was very brownish, the Custom is more modern, fat, and agressive. The Demon doesn't really sound great in mahogany bodies without slight mods (using different allen head for example). So I think the CC is more of a winner

I'd go with the JB Jr in the neck. Nice singing tone, with great harmonics and swell clean ups.

Welcome to the board bro!

Welcome!

In mahogany, I really, really like the Custom. the CC is nice, but the bottom isn't that tight in mahogany. I like the CC is brighter guitars, like Ibanez RG's and ash Strats.

This guitar has a maple top, would that make it brighter by much?

Thanks!

It'll make it brighter, but not piercingly bright, making the Custom seem like an OK choice.

I think the maple tops on Schecters are laminates for the most part, not a thicker cap, so it likely won't have much of an impact on the tone. My C1+ has a laminate maple top.

I have a 006 Terry Corso model guitar, which is mahogony body, flame maple top, mahogony neck with rosewood fretboard. It is very similar to the one you are describing, except mine has a mahogony neck and hum-hum wiring.

In my guitar, I had a JB/Jazz and now a JB/Alnico II Pro configuration. If your looking Brown Sound, those combo's wont get you there.

I probably didn't help much, but sometimes it helps to hear what WONT work rather than what will. Also, we have very similar guitars.

Don't you just love the bottom cutaway on the body? It is quite possibly one of the EASIEST guitars to get all the way to the 24th fret! The arm absolutely never gets in my way. I'm in love with the 006 series, and I'm actually looking to buy another in the future!

good luck with that guitar and your pickup search!

I really dig the shape of the 006's and I really love the look of the TC model. I like the natural top and the black back, with black spilling over in the cutaway. Very cool axe.

I have that guitar, and it's not a black back. I thought it was, but actually it is natural mahogony. The pictures are a bit misleading to make it look like a black back. :smack:

Really? Very cool, I haven't seen one in person, and have only seen pics of the front so I assumed as well. I'd imagine the natural wood looks even better :). The black in the cutaway is probably to keep continuity in the binding then? The binding seems to be black in that photo.

Re: SDs for a Schecter 006 Elite

Out of curiosity, what kind of finish is on the neck of the TC model?

Re: SDs for a Schecter 006 Elite

hmmm It's a gloss finished natural mahogony set neck. The neck is set into the body. It's a real great guitar, and it's 1000 bucks list price. They're going for 400 (give or take 50 bucks) on ebay. I saw one listed a few days ago Buy it now for 450

If you're interested, definately worth a grab!
