I just ordered a pickup from Martin 6 String Customs.
This is a US company and the owner is often on the forum (Bada Bing). IMHO, his prices are very reasonable and he has a lot of guitar related stuff on his webstore. Also, he doesn't charge shipping to Canada and gives a discount to SD forum members (FORUMBRO discount).
I'm waiting to see what happens with the brokerage.
Also, Long & McQuade sell SD pickups.

My local shop orders mine for me, just call around your local shops and see if they can order SD products.

Steve's and others should be ok but I always have problems ordering more specific stuff from Quebec city.
I had great experiences with wymoreguitars (fellow member blackrosecustoms), great prices, cheap shipping charges and since it's usps, minimal brokerage fees.
As far as I've heard, martinsixstrings is great to do business too. Another forum member (Lew) is great to do business with too but I haven't seen him around lately.
Advice: whatever, whenever you're ordering stuff from the US, try to get it shipped via USPS instead of UPS... they don't charge additional fees for the custom duties (only the actual value of the duties)...therefore, for low-value items like pick-ups, you end-up paying very low additional fees, which make ordering from the other side of the border still a good move.
I'm so fed up with ups inflated fees that a seller only willing to ship via UPS is a deal-breaker for me...

Same here.
9/10 times USPS is just as fast, costs me less, and is less hassle to deal with on the recieving end.
Also, when shipped via USPS I don't get hit with any duties at all about 75% of the time.

Long & McQuade has stores across Canada and they are top-notch customer relations operation with very good prices. Can't go wrong there. I bought a Jazz neck off them last week, but they had it in stock. They also had about 25 other SD' on the shelf along with the full setup sets by Fender, Gibson and there was another mfr there too. They had a full cabinet of tubes. It's where pro's go in many cases.

I would recommend asking pro guitarists for the names or store names of people in your area that can do great wiring/soldering work. Long & McQuade is a great store for supply, price and helpful staff. For guitar repair staff, they aren't known to be there for custom work, more to do basic setups and warranty work on guitars they sell. Your area pro players won't lie and you might get some good insights by talking to a professional player. But ask several, not just one.

The Long & McQuade in Winnipeg has SDs for about $120-$130 CDN before 13% sales taxes, which is pretty comparable to every single guitar store here, as even the small shops here carry them.
However I just bought a pickup from Bada Bing, a PGn which costs more than the normal SDs, and even with it being a more expensive pickup then others: after the exchange rate I paid only $97 CDN in total for a pickup that costs over $130 CDN before taxes in most stores here. Add in the taxes and from the stores here it would cost more than $45 more than what I paid.
I know people think we should support local stores, but Long & Mcquade is not local, its a huge company that rips Canadians off, their prices are horrible for most things and their staff is uneducated at best.

I too bought from Lew.......you can't beat the price or the knowledge. I saved at least the cost of a pickup by buying them through him versus a Canadian store in Ontario.
