Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe - Category 9; Teles ENTRIES
Ive never been much of a tele guy. Thought they were a country guitar and blah blah. But, as Ive matured, I see how useful a tele is in the arsenal. So I decided I should add one to the family. So, I did the most comparison shopping Ive ever done for a guitar and played nearly every tele in the area.. And unlike normal, I didnt factor in price. It got down between a Fender Baja tele and the one I got. The one I chose played better, felt better and sounded almost as good. (The Tex Mex pups of the Baja were just a tiny bit better than the Duncan designed models in my guitar.) Barely!!
So, I got my guitar, added straplocks, swapped the stock DD bridge pup for a Duncan Jerry Donahue, swapped the stock neck for a GFS Firebird pup ( I believe it was) and left the DD in the middle. This baby covers so much ground, is a joy to play and sounds amazing from clean to metal. And honestly, this guitar played on the neck pup gives me about the sweetest tone of anything I have for creamy leads. Plus, at barely over $300, ya gotta love it!
Here is my Lovely lady! She's not expensive, she's not fancy, but she's awesome!
