Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

I picked the seafoam and maple one. It's such a unique instrument among other unique instruments, but that's the first PRS that I've ever really said "I love that guitar" to.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Why isn't my axe on here? I'm calling shenanigans.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Yeah - I have never seen one like that before. Lot's of unique points there.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

And remember - you DON'T have to vote on looks!!! Mojo, cool factor, uniqueness, and looks have all ended up driving votes. But looks don't hurt. Of course, there is ugly factor categories too...

Maybe this category should be split into "Museum/Under Glass" PRS and "Working Man/I'd actually play out" PRS!

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

The top three are a close race - 9, 10, and 12 votes as of this post!

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Man, even I didn't vote for my guitar with the lineup posted! ;)

On a separate note though, and I hope this really isn't perceived as anything else than an observation, but : I find it very interesting that the most common criticism of PRS guitars is that they are too pretty, when PRS guitars get compared, those who become crowd favourites are (usually) chosen based on the quality and figure of the top, and the colour. Most will say they prefer a ''player's guitar'', but those flame and quilt maple tops sure can turn heads! With that said, I'm glad to see the Seafoam doing so well! Unusual, yet striking!

I voted for the black single cut. It's a stunning piece, and I'm not shy to say that I'm a sucker for a wicked looking top and some fancy inlay work! :)

Haven't looked in for a few days and it's great that there is such a wide range of taste. IMO any of these guitars could win and there would be absolutely nothing wrong with that as they are all excellent variants of the PRS brand. I do understand what you are saying Phil and whilst I too love flame in particular (not so much quilt tops) I also appreciate the look of a great solid colour... the Seafoam being absolutely beautiful. My own guitar is somewhat strange because whilst it is flamy, due to the satin finish you really have to get the guitar in a certain light for it to stand out and with the neck being unfinished it has a played in feel already. For the record mine is not a closet queen either, it gets gigged regularly and already has a couple of dings.... it is a guitar I've wanted for several years so now I have one it's being used as intended. Because it's not all shiny and glossy it doesn't attract much attention which is exactly why I like it!

On a side note, big thanks to Ace for doing this years rounds again... last years were my favourite gear threads of the year on any forum! Cheers Bob.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Whoa!!!!!

And Modern Eagle takes back the lead!!!! But don't rule out Seafoam yet. And only one vote behind is Black Single cut!

If I had ANY of these I wouldn't be swapping/trading or selling. As always - no losers, just one final winner!!!!!

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

I didn't expect to win this by a long shot but I thought Blondie would garner a few votes anyway..:) This is a tough crowd!! LOL

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

As far as PRS goes...it doesnt get prettier than a modern eagle with a nice top for me.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

I count 7 other cool PRSs who entered who are not listed as options. What was the process to eliminate those entries?

If it came up to best sounding - it would be yours by a longshot! IMO of course. That's where it counts.

No Shenanigans!

No Shenanigans!

With the field limited to 10, some great guitars get left out. No malice intended from Aceman I can assure you.

No harm felt. I just misunderstood. It is not a SDUG run contest organized by Aceman, but rather his personal preference contest for the entries. Its all good. I thought it was a collective. My mistake. Cheers.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Indeed. Once of the toughest taks is picking the ten, because there are ALWAYS more. But a poll holds ten so that's the limit. I try to be really objective in picking the best representation of awesome in the category based on looks, mojo, iconic factor, uniqueness, and whatever else seems relevant. It can be tough. I can be driven by alcohol some evening....

But there will more cats Rodney. Fear not! And enjoy the eye candy. I dropped a couple for bad photos this time no question.

The phot DOES NOT have to be art - but it must clearly show the axe in question. 1/4 shots, bur, low res all hurt. Artistic photo factor DOES NOT help (but is a nice touch).

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Poll#1 PRS

Its all good. The guitar I would have voted for was omitted. Good luck in your contest. Cheers!
