SDUG Ultimate Axe; SUPERSTRAT Entrees

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe; SUPERSTRAT Entrees

Figured I'd enter my Warmoth Strat. Ash body, maple top, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard. SS jumbo frets, Seymour Duncans, and a Floyd.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe; SUPERSTRAT Entrees

My entry is a custom thingy made by Polish luthiers Rek Guitars by my specifications.
Some facts:
East europe elmwood body. 1 piece elmwood top.
Maple 25,5 " neck thru with wenge stripes. 24 jumbo frets. Ebony fretboard with a couple of exotic woods as inlay.
Pickup rings made of ebony, a nice surprise by the luthiers, I ordered plastic.
Originally and in the pics a Bareknuckle Miracle Man pickup set. Since then swapped and is now equipped with a Full Shred set.
Tonepros bridge, Sperzel locking tuners.

WOW, hadn't seen that one man and it is KILLER, and I'm not one for red guitars except when they are particularly cool!!!

This guitar has a cool story attached to it. I purchased it almost three years ago, however I first saw it for sale on Craigslist in 2008. Back then, it looked like this. I was about 17 and I thought it was the coolest guitar ever made, but it was around a grand and I didn't have that kind of money. So I let it slip through my fingers. Fast forward to this winter 2010, I find out that it was bought by the director of the music department at my school. He wasn't completely satisfied with it though, as he was more interested in my Parker Nitefly. We tried it out for a bit and I absolutely loved it. It was like the one that got away came back to me. We made the trade and I've been happy ever since. I put a Pearly Gates in the neck and a PG+ in the bridge. It came to me with the wilkinson bridge and sperzel tuners (not pictured).

Yeah, it turned out about as i envisioned and then some. Those guys at Rek Guitars are s bit special. The company is actually just two brothers building guitars...
I live in Sweden and they are from Poland so it was a gamble since i wouldn't have any chance to see it in reality until it was shipped to me.
They were very active when we discussed different choices, they actually refused to do some things, like the fact I wanted mop blocks for inlays. They thought i should go for some exclusive exotic wood instead and in retrospect they were right.
The ebony pickup rings they didn't even tell me about, or charged me for, I just noticed they were made of wood when i opened the case. A nice touch.
So they seemed as enthusiastic about the project as me, an overall nice experience.
It didn't even cost very much in Poland back then (2004), but i guess prices increased since then.

I missed the strat entries, so I'm hoping this can count as a super strat as it is HSS.

It's a '2003 Fender CIJ Antigua Burst reissue with a GHS Little Killer in the bridge. I would upgrade to something better by I've been happy with that cheap little pickup.

I love fat strats because it makes me feel like I'm playing two different sounding guitars. The trem is all stock, its floating just a bit so I can use pretty gently and it stays in tune, nor does it pull the other strings out when I'm bending. That setup took some time.

GREAT LOOKING GUITARS GUYS!!

'98 Ibanez RG3120 - Dimarzio Evo (?) and PAF Pro, Low Pro Edge, Mahogany body, AAA Flame Maple top, faux binding, Hand-finished Maple Wizard Neck, Rosewood Fretboard. Twilight Blue.

Despite owning it for several years, I've only just noticed how mis-matched the top is while taking these photos. The lighting makes it look far worse than indoors, but it's still kind of funny, makes it different...

Are you sure that's a Tone Zone? I think the TZ has slug and screw polepieces. And the baseplate seems black, which would indicate an Evo... Anyway, you're lucky you've got the Lo Pro Edge on that. The newer trems don't compare imo.

****! I've never noticed it wasn't stock! God damn I'm feeling embarrassed now... :smack:

I bought it from a guy who 'inherited' it after a friend died and knew little to nothing about it. Do Dimarzio mark the baseplates?

Thanks!! The red came with Duncan Jazz/ Custom. Ive changed the Custom to a Custom 8.
The white has a Jazz neck, TB15 Hybrid in the bridge. And if anyone wants to know, the Gunslinger has a JB neck/Distortion Bridge

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe; SUPERSTRAT Entrees
