Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

I am well aware that my walnut Warmoth hardtail super has no chance in this competition!

:banghead:

But what counts is trying? No?

:D

By the way, mine believes in the world peace!

:)

Cool and wild superstrat.

Aceman, this may be the hardest one to choose yet! These are some unbelievable axes. Wow.

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

That's quite the turnout, the Jap Schecter? That blue quilt Jackson, man gorgeous (but a Jackson without a Floyd? Sacrilege!!! :cool2:)

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

Recessed Wilkinson and a single Duncan Distortion.... it's plenty super for me. Fender neck on a one-piece mahogany body from Warmoth. It may not have a floyd, but I can still pull up on the bar, it stays in tune, and I can change the strings and tune up 4 times faster than a floyd.

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

I totally need to comment on this thread when I'm sober. Or ate least more sober.

Preliminary observations:

That white Strat with the single hum and maple neck is droolworthy. As is the Gunslinger.

IMHO The perfect SuperStrat is HxS. Anyone with this combo gets big props from me.

Those Washburn N3's are the shizzle.

Love the Ibby's with the neon and the handle. It was the 80's. You were either there and you get it or you don;t. Sorry.

I LOVE SPARKLE!

Green is cool too.

Blue is da bomb!

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

All I can say is that they're awesome. They respond incredibly well when you hit the strings. They're very clear and makes it sound like you have room to make chords without getting muddy and makes your vibrato sound defined. It's fairly high output like a JB. I would say that there's kind of a bright edge to them but this guitar has an ash body so that might be what gives it the sizzle. I think the neck pickup is particularly awesome.

The tone is subjective, but I think when you play those pickups besides other brands, you can tell there's a difference in how they respond. They're just really good pickups. I have a nice variety of Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio pickups to compare with and I would say that these have a response close to how Dimarzios respond. Even better are the SuperRock III's which come with the really expensive models. I played several of those guitars when I was in Japan and those pickups are even better. They're less grainy and a little more low mids.

I can't find any official info on what magnets are in them but they're apparently alnico 5. I want to try alnico 2 magnets in them but I'm afraid of messing them up trying to take them apart.

how come the pole pieces are so big?
are the pole pieces in the HBs the magnets themselves? or are those HBs constructed like regular HBs with the magnet on the mounting plate?

Thanks Bro!!! You're Stinnett Custom is freakin awesome as well. :fingersx:

IMO nothing beats a Hardtail Bridge for sustainability & resonance, not to

mention faster string changes, setups, and changes in tuning on the fly.

Floyd Rose heh.....more like Floyd Blows:chairfall

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

unless your Jesuscaster can turn my water to wine to keep me hammered enough to not care about divine rigging of this contest, my vote is going for the WM526

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

Mine falls on the old school side of things.....Cleveland Guitars 57 strat copy....rat rodded out with 6100s and a 1979 X2N!

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

That's sweet! ^

But damn man, how's your low E sound on that bridge pup? Spacing's quite a bit off.

Re: SDUG Ultimate SUPERSTRAT preliminaries

Doubt there is any drop off with that big bruiser of a pickup.
