Seafoam Green (Daphne Blue) Strat Makeover / PICs

ehdwuld

A Ficus
some of ya'll may remember when she showed up
a MF Second blem non working
was called a Daphne Blue , but is so Seafoam Green

100_0129.jpg

then we rotted her out for her new life
as test beater

100_0156.jpg

with the radio shack knobs

100_0160.jpg

she was measured and and gutted
100_0170.jpg

100_0202.jpg

this week she gets her makeover
100_0250.jpg

she's got a JB/Jazz from Mr Barbee , (Thanks Ray)

and some locking tuners
100_0253.jpg

roller trees and nut

100_0254.jpg

and before someone mentions it, yes the nut is slanted

100_0257.jpg

but look how the bridge intonated
all Wilkerson with roller saddles
and a push in arm

100_0255.jpg

and here is the control layout I was fretting over last month
thats a 1 Meg linear Volume
and a 500k Audio tone with a .022 ceramic cap
a superswitch
bridge
bridge + neck / in series
bridge + neck
bridge + neck / OOP / in series
neck
and two on-off-on minis to give me
all the triple-shot selections except parallel coils

100_0256.jpg

the Action is still a bit high
I think I am gonna have to chisel out the rest of that rosewood to let it set on down

100_0252.jpg

while I got the strings off tomorrow
I may put in a treble bleed

Caution
to gouge out the nut area
I drew a line where the front of the new nut would be
because the strings broke right in front of the plastic nut
and break on the center of the rollers
and tilted the treble side closer a bit
took a Back Pull Saw, like the one in a miter box
scored the pencil line down to depth
chisel roughed out the rosewood
then with a fine flat bastard file leveled the shelf

I will probably use the same technique to lower the nut

Re: Seafoam Green (Daphne Blue) Strat Makeover / PICs

That is one funky lookin' beast! I like the control layout.

I think my favorite look was when it had the INF's. I think I may try to copy that look some day.

well the INFs are still mounted in that pickguard

pm me

there is a chance they can be yours

oh and that layout is very popular round here

everytime someone heres my RG with the TS rings
and super switch
they want that

the mini switches were just ten dollar version of the TS rings

two more guys round here want me to build them the same setup

this was just me testing the concept

I think the roller nuts are gonna be big too

Re: Seafoam Green (Daphne Blue) Strat Makeover / PICs

I appreciate the offer sir but I could never get down with the INF's. Besides, I gotta get me a seafoam green strat before I start the project. :D

Re: Seafoam Green (Daphne Blue) Strat Makeover / PICs

yea I aint crazy bout the Seafoam my self
its growing on me tho

I started to paint it a burgundy red with a black pearl pickguard

kinda looks like a cheap hooker
all green lame' and eye shadow

I had some black metal no hole covers for the pickups but the pickguard holes were just a bit tight

might open them up at some point
