Singing Quality of JB but less mid spike and less output (currently in super strat basswood/maple body)
Growl of Demon but little less treble (in my les paul)
Thump of Little 59' Tele
Roundness, Punch and warmth of PATB-1B. (in basswood guitar)

These are the current humbuckers/guitars i own. Guitar the next pickups will be going in a Dean ML (blocked floyd).

I have a gibson 500t/496r sitting around that i hated in my les paul should i get them rewound? or buy new?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a Custom Custom to me. The mid spike of the CC is in the lower mids rather than the high mids like the JB. The highs are rolled off making them buttery smooth, the low end is there regardless what the tone chart says. It has plenty of punch and warmth. It's classified as a hot pickup but it doesn't behave like one so you can do absolutely anything with it. I have 2, soon to be 3.

I always find i like the demon in my les paul but am always rolling the tone down to 6.5 - 7 to take some bite off.

Thanks i think i'll try the cc bridge with an ap2h neck

If you want a general idea of what the CC sounds like in a LP, check out my clips (see "Hear It" links below). The CC/A2P is a killer combo. I myself love the Jazz neck so I went with that in mine.

I can make a JB/Custom 5 Hybrid for you... might fit the bill perfectly!

Re: Searching for a Bridge Humbucker Cross breed of..

I was gonna say Custom 5, since it's Alnico 5, and basically a cross between a 59 and JB in percieved output. It's got bigger and tighter bass, neutral mids and natural highs like a 59.

Re: Searching for a Bridge Humbucker Cross breed of..

I would definitely go with a CC, especially with a basswood body. Perfect combination, IMO.

Re: Searching for a Bridge Humbucker Cross breed of..

The Custom Custom won't have the "Thump" he is looking for in the bass... it has a soft bass.
You need an Alnico 5 pickup...

Re: Searching for a Bridge Humbucker Cross breed of..

Depends on how much thump you want. I like the bass to be there but I don't want Metallica-like thumb going on. The CC has thumb, just not has much as an A5 pickup would have. The amp and cab have a lot to do with thump too don't forget. :)

Sorry if it was confusing, what i decribed was the woods in my other guitars, the dean ml i believe is mahogany with neck through (mid 95) model with blocked floyd.

I dont like nothing to shrill because my laney amp already has a lot of bite.

I was looking at AP2H Combo but i like the output of humbuckers matched or slightly higher bridge.

To get the Demon right in my Les paul i find i have to always roll the tone down to 7 to tame it a bit (300k pots btw and ap2h neck). So id rather have something that mates the ap2h neck well

How is the cc clean?

Thanks

Pretty smooth. Granted in the bridge position there is some additional treble but it's by no means overpowering.
