Sell me a chorus

Re: Sell me a chorus

Yesterday a guy upcountry wanted to sell his MXR 234 for a very decent price, so jumped on it. Will hook it up at rehearsal tomorrow and see how it feels. If it's not my cup of tea, I can probably pass it on for the same sum I paid for it.

On a related note, I think I might also try my hands at some modding. Getting the Fromel mod kit for the BF2 and see how that works out, as it supposedly remedies the complaints I've had about it.

Let us know how that works out for you. Like I said, I love mine.

Re: Sell me a chorus

I have to agree with the MXR234 analog chorus. Love mine.

That is a great pedal. I have nothing against digital effects, but for me, a chorus is one of those effects I prefer analog. To my ear, it is warmer and lusher. I probably have more chorus pedals than any other single effect, and the majority are analog.

You might want to step on an Ibanez CS9. Nice pedal at a nice price. I use mine on my smaller board when I don't have the real estate for my Eventide or MOOG. It gets the job done nicely.

First impessions were... interesting. Tried hooking it up in front of my sound card into Bias, and really had to crank the level up to hear anything at all. Brought it to rehearsal along with my EMG loaded superstrat. Hooked it up and sparks were flying. Literally. Power plug came in contact with the chassis it made a nasty noise and shot sparks. Freaked me out quite a bit. But it ran just fine afterwards and it was the most 80's sound I have ever heard. I was just pissing myself it was so much fun. Effect came through quite strongly, had to keep turning the level down between songs.

It does take away a lot of the stuff I found annoying about the BF2, but at the same time, it doesn't soud as full or rich. I'm gonna hold my final verdict until I've gotten the mod installed in the BF2.

Securb - the CS9 (mini) did pique my interest, but nearly every demo I've heard sounds just as scooped as my BF2. But I'll try it out next time I'm at the store, it could very well just be a symptom of crappy demo vids.
