Selling Midrange Guitars with Upgraded Pickups?

Re: Selling Midrange Guitars with Upgraded Pickups?

OK I'll definitely return these four guitars to stock condition. I think I'll float them on Craigslist first and see what kind of action I can get. If that doesn't work, I'll try eBay next. My Big Master Plan is to sell these guitars, add more money of my own, and get a Fender Am. Std. and a Gibson LP Studio Deluxe this year.

Good points on lots of guitartists not knowing anything about the gear they use. Wasn't really thinking about that. Shoot, one of my friends can't change his own strings so I do it for him when he comes by -- you wouldn't believe how much grime is stuck under his old strings. I see a teacher once a month to advance my playing and it blew his mind when I told him that I swapped magnets in the SG Faded that I was using. I won't even go into trying to converse in technical terms with most GC staffers anymore.

I agree no one cares what "upgrades" you've made to an instrument.

Well, not exactly true. A few guys do, you just have to find them. They're a small percentage of the total but they're out there. I ran across an Epi LP Std+ in nice condition, with hard case, a set of Duncan Ant's, and the 4 push-pull Jimmy Page system professionally installed. I didn't mind paying his asking price of $450 for that. It was still a bargain. Great as the upgrades were, the average player wouldn't have been impressed by them, and would have been just as happy with a stock Epi. :banghead: We've got a long way to go gentlemen.

Easy to forget what an elite group we are here. We're way ahead of the curve on this stuff.
