Semi hollow and acoustic guitar pickups

Silly question but are the pickups on semi hollow electric guitars similar to the pickups on acoustic guitars?

Semi hollow have the same pickups as solid body guitars

Acoustic guitars have piezo / microphone pickups

My Dean Shire is unique in that it has standard magnetic pickups and a piezo bridge
And is semihollow

It's a trick question. First identify what you mean by a semi-hollow guitar and what you mean by acoustic, and which kind of pickups you are referring to.

Historically, no, but everything has been tried. Most semi hollows use the same pickups on all other solidbodies. The sound comes from the body style, not the pickup.

thanks for the "G.A.S" - those are some really nice guitars!!

I really like that thinline acoustic, with the "single coil" ... :/

But I need to survive with my one and only. And even pay for a new pickup for it..

yes, it's a semi hollow, an Epiphone Wildkat "koa top" . With P90, magnetic pickups.

The semi hollow I’m talking is the ibanez artcore vibrante as63 and the pickups on the acoustic guitar are the piezo and microphone.

the as63 has normal electric guitar type humbuckers

yeah... never liked the look of that fender. never put my hands on one but the look was enough to turn me away
