Re: Sennheiser BF521?
Hi Davey--
I just saw your post. I lifted this from another from when I did an internet search.
"The MD408 uses a smaller capsule. It is hypercardioid and has slightly less bass response.
The BF521 is an MD421 without the bass roll-off (same as MD421-2).
There are some other Sennheiser models with the 409 capsule too..."
Personally, I have both the MD421 and the SM57. I don't really use the SM57 anymore now because the Sennheiser comes across much more full on recordings. Not that the Shure doesn't sound good, the MD is just better to my ears. I paid about $250 used for my MD421 about a year and a half ago. If the above opinion from the other forum is true, and you can live without the bass rolloff, it's a steal for 100 euros which the currency converter says is $131.77.
Hope this helps.
