Series Wiring (Middle Pos) w/ Pickups with only Hot+Shield

..is it possible? I have a pair of gold foils in humbucker housing that only have a hot and outer shield for ground. Can I use a Push/Pull pot to switch the middle position to series without using a separate ground for the pickup housing? If not, how easy is it to earth the housing separately, that's what I'd have to do, right?

No, not possible unless you open them and permanently rewire the coils (at which point it would be easier to put a 4-conductor, or a 2+shield conductor).

You cannot change the pickup cover from anything but be connected to the same ground as everything else.

Okay that's kinda what I feared.

I'll have to try and think of another mod I can have on a push/pull to give me some tonal variation.

Well, you CAN do it. But you won't want to. It will be noisy like crazy.
