Seth Lover in an ES175 anyone??

Re: Seth Lover in an ES175 anyone??

I just got an ES175, wondering if I put a pair of Seth Lover . Anyone put Seth in an ES175???? what do you think???

I put a pair of '59's in an Ibanez AF105 hollow body, with 250K's on the bridge for warmth & 500K's on the neck. Sounds great. To me this is a better approach than Seth's as the '59's have more output (thanks to the A5 magnets), and a little more sizzle & cut on the bridge, with the mids played up by the 250K's. Full, rich, and balanced.

I was thinking to use 250k for the bridge Seth(to reduce abit of high) and 500k for the neck. What type of music you used to play with the AF105 Blueman??? Are you using flatwound string or common string????
Iam aftering jazz-blues tone with the ES175.

Considering you're using them for jazz and blues the Seth's would do great. I have no feedback problems playing metal with them albeit at lower volumes. If you ever get a stadium gig and need to not worry about the feedback, just take the covers off and it fixes a lot of it.

The Seths have a warm natural sound with a lot of complexity to the mids (listen to the clips of the Seth back to back with the clips of A2P and you'll get an idea). I'm no jazz player, but I might want something smoother in the neck for any jazz playing and would strongly consider the A2P.

I'm a Chicago blues/Classic rock player, so I like a warm bridge with some bite, a bright neck PU for clarity, with a small amount of overdrive & reverb. I'm using a plain G string so I can do those Peter Green/Danny Kirwan fast vibrato bends.

With the Seth having an A2 magnet, if you're a still little too bright, you may only need one 250k on the bridge, paired with a 500K (volume & tone) to shave off a bit of treble. Or use 500K's and if needed, and a different magnet for an EQ or output change. Either way, use two 500K's on the neck.

You can get '59's cheaper than Seth's, so that's the route I take, and I dial in the tone with magnets or pots (which I do with every PU). I don't think a stock Seth would give me what I want (I have an A2 phobia that goes back to an early childhood trauma, or so say some wise guys on this forum), so I can't see spending the extra cash, when I know that a pair of '59's or Jazz will do the job very well. But Seth's may be ideal for you.
