Hey folks, i have got a probably stupid question :P but here goes:fingersx:

i have got a MIAmerica Fender Stratocaster deluxe, two seperate single coils from the neck, middle, and two single coils combined into one near the bridge. is it possible for me to put in seth lovers in my guitar? the obvious would be the need to get a new pickguard, but would i need to carve out extra wood to put in the pickups?

Re: Seth Lover pickups

I believe you have HSH routing under the pickguard, so you won't have to route it out.

Re: Seth Lover pickups

Yep, you'll be able to fit humbuckers in your strat without any problems. Just make sure you get short legs on the baseplates.

BTW, ifyou want piano-like tones and aren't married to the idea of the Seths, do a search on here for clips of the Antiquit Surfer sing¨

Re: Seth Lover pickups

il search it now ;D watcha mean by shortlegs? hehe sorry im quite new on this, parents diapproved of my playing anything other than piano, hence just got the 2000 AUS this year to buy my stratocaster ;P im daryl btw nice to know you

Re: Seth Lover pickups

Seths and 59's are replicas of the Gibson PAF's. The old pickups (and the Seths) have long tabs on their baseplates . They fit Gibsons well but guitars like some Fenders, Hamers, and PRSi need pickups with shorter legs.

Re: Seth Lover pickups

hey dude i cant find the clips , hahaha il keep looking ;) add me at duwhel@hotmail.com if ya feel like chatting in the meanwhile im still winning on my bid for a pair of seth lover's

Re: Seth Lover pickups

some guy told me seths are a bad idea because of string measurements in my strat is this true?

Re: Seth Lover pickups

On Floyd Rose trems and the old Fender 6 point trems, the string spacing is wider than the Seth Lovers. On the Am Std 2 point trem (like yours) the string spacing matches the Seths quite well. Like Jeff said, you'll be fine.

Re: Seth Lover pickups

thanks bro's :D now to find some seth lovers for meee :D

@Ben; i cant find any clips for antiquity surfs :(
ive decided to to put in a possible:
1) surfer(neck), surfer (middle), seths (bridge)

it must be me, but i honestly cant hear the difference in tones in the seymourduncan website!! i must be deafff :D

Re: Seth Lover pickups

IIRC the Seth Lovers usually come with 2-conductor wiring, but you can order them with 4 conductors as a "shop floor custom" at no extra charge. Probably a good idea for future wiring flexibility, especially if you are going for an H/S/H pickup layout.

Daryl,

SD uses 3 different baseplates. Vintage style, (long legs) modern or aftermarket style, (short legs) and trembucker style (short legs 6 hole).

From SD you can get many slight variations on a pup: for example a Seth with short legs and 4 conductors (like you would need) or a Seth with no cover, or a Seth with dbl. black bobbins.

Any knowledgeable dealer will be able to get you what you need. Check out these guys. http://stores.ebay.com/Martin-6-String-Customs_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm www.lewsguitars.com www.wymoreguitars.com

All three of those guys are forum members and can order you EXACTLY what you need, they also can ship internationally.
