Re: Seth Lovers 50th ...
They were available in A2 or A5. I ordered a set of A2's, and paid more than I've ever paid for pickups.....$300 for the set. I have to say that I'm fully satisfied with them, and I've moved them around in a few guitars. But, it did p1ss me off a bit that Musicians Fiend lowered the price to $250, then blew them out for $200....I felt like I'd wasted $100 for nothing. The controversy was that they were a Musicians Friend exclusive, and not available to other dealers.....and I think it said MF on the bottom of the pickups and on the box....which some thought was cheezy, considering it was a tribute to Seth's original PAF.
For a long time, they were in my 2001 LP Prem Plus, and sounded beautiful. Since then, I replaced them with the Brobucker/PGn, which is slightly tighter sounding.....and a little less warm.
I put them in my teal black McCarty, and I don't think I've heard a PRS sound better.
The only drawback is they're 2 lead, which renders my pullup tone useless......unless I get motivated enough to find a use for it...but I really don't need any other features.
I really love Seths on hard and punchy sounding amps.....like my Gibson Goldtone or Fenders. On more gainy and compressed amps, I like tighter/brighter pickups.
