Seth Lovers in a Les Paul. Pots and Caps question

I'm going to try for the first time to install a set of pickups. These are Seth Lovers going into a 95 Les Paul Standard. (Thanks to everyone for your advice about these pickups on a previous thread of mine).

I have a spare set of tone pots from another Les Paul that, according to a tech, are CTS, and measure 504k and 493k.
Is there any reason I couldn't use these to replace the volume pots in my Paul which are the 300k ones? (500k pots seems to be the advice I'm getting from folks here).

Which caps should I use or should I just stick with the ones that were put in there by Gibson?
These are MP 203M 100V - whatever that means!

I'm looking for a vintage Les Paul tone e.,g. Paul Kossoff from Free, early Jimmy Page (Led Zep 2) etc.

Any other advice e.g. regarding soldering would also be appreciated

Go for it! There shouldn't be any problems with that... As far as advices go, if it's your first time changing pick-ups, try sanding the back of the pots with some sandpaper before you solder your grouds to them... I'll make the solder stick a little more, making it easier. Some guys suggested that a while ago and it works nicely and helps you not to burn your pots... Have fun!

These are MP 203M 100V - whatever that means!

I can cover this part. Whenever you see a number like this, (203), on a cap or a resistor, the first two digits are called "significant digits", and the third one is the number of zero's. So, this would be 20,000 pf, or .02 uf.

+1. Also, you might try this, If you find your bridge pickup a bit too bright (this happens with some PAF's, like the Pearly Gates in my LP), try going to a .047 Orange drop for your bridge tone control. It'll give you a bit more treble roll off if you need it.

What sound difference would the orange drop caps (.022) compared to the same value ceramics fitted as standard by Gibson?

Benjy 26, your advice is helpful. I recently had some wiring done by a tech in another Les Paul. The bridge pickup in that is a bit bright so that might be a solution there.
