Also nut grooving if changing string gauge or if it's just crappy to begin with.JB_From_Hell said:A setup is akin to a tuneup, oil change, and tire balance/rotation on a car, if that makes sense.
Essentially, it's adjusting the trussrod, setting the string height, adjusting the intonation, and maybe adjusting the pickup heights. You can learn to do them by experimenting, EXCEPT the truss rod.
Seriously, don't just start goofing with that one. You can do serious damage, so have a pro do it, and watch how it's done.
There's plenty of free online instruction, tons of it on this very site. Use the search function, and you'll get a handle on much of it![]()
Does you guitar have a floating trem? If so, it's probably because when one string going out of tune, the floatingness(for lack of a better term, :smack: ) causes the rest of the strings to go out of tune with it.Children of Bodom said:Okay well my guitar when it goes out of tune it isnt like one string it all stays the its just like half a step lower.
I mean what the hell?

Curly said:tuning problems can be the tuners, but it could also be the intonation, which is part of a setup

It's the intonation thread in the Vault, by Rainmaker. Scroll down to my post on this thread, and it'll tell you how to fully setup your guitar.
