Nice to know Im not: A) the only one with messy wiring skills. B) the only that not be able to get electrical tape to stick. Instead of wrapping it around wires, Ive often had to resort to just cutting a piece and folding it over the wire like a flap and going sticky to sticky.. I do try to shrink wrap when I have more patience.

Here's an alternative ... wind all the excess around a pencil, so all the wires look like miniature curly guitar leads from the 1960s ... you see this look in any electronic devices in old sci-fi movies to make simple props look like complex electronic devices.

Applying this process to your guitar will be like the sonic effect of using the curly guitar leads, and it really will be 'Jimi in a box' ... or in your case, the 'Jimi sound built internally into your guitar'.

hoarding is so alien to me..keeping stuff around that has no purpose or is 30 years beyond its usefulness. I can understand keeping a large amount of magazine/books if there is a method to the madness like all are on the same subject, limited special editions,rare,etc.. in other words, not random and definitely not in 5 foot tall stacks in the living room.. Having magazines or other loose items tucked away in boxes and stacked neatly would be a better way to approach this random collecting

in saying that,, i admit it.. Im a data hoarder BUT all my stuff is nicely organized into folders for the most part and only takes up as much room as my mid sized tower

now .. on the subject of the OPs wiring ..damn dude,Neatness really does counts IMO.. I wire up every guitar like someone paid me to do so. No shortcuts or half-assery.. I have been known to rip everything out and start over if it wasn't up to my standards. As I have gotten older my standards have gone way up on workmanship.. not so much on chicks though.. LOL. Im really not a perfectionist per-se but close.

I will also add, that keeping the wires long like that invites noise.. on the flip side of that.. keeping the wires too short is not good either.. IMO its best, to keep just a 1/4" of slack or maby a tad more
