Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Actually, it's more of a joke. They say silver has a higher melting point than copper, but copper actually has a melting point 2X as high.

Also, this:

Cryogenic treatment is pretty ridiculous, but crystal lattice is just a giant Dumble joke :lmao:

Care to elaborate? I would like to be educated. ;)

Nah, I'm just joking. :wizard:

I think Seymour has been spending a bit too much time with Eric Johnson, and his good friend Mary Jane.

and George Alessandro and his $50,000 solid gold chassis upgrade
Look at Chassis Options

or the $1000-plus amp cables

Go to Instrument Pro

I hope this isn't a production run, but something that's truly built to order... ie: a halo model. Then I could see justifying it, since it won't be made unless explicitly asked for.

Is anyone actually gonna buy these in our economic state? Especially since you could get about 7 or 8 sets for that price?

Most of the super-rich are still super-rich. $1,200 is nothing to them. Their wives buy $1,200 handbags.

So the cork sniffin lawyers and doctors of the world. Lovely. I hope TGP enjoys their uber pickups. A fool and his money, or something like that...

Well, those guys are still making it rain in the worst economy in seventy years, while most of us are struggling. Who's the fool, really?

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

I have always wondered why they didn't try making pickups with cryogenic treated alloys for the poles and oxygen free copper for the coils?

Aren't the Callaham/Fralin colab pickups cryo treated?

I dunno. I'd like to try them out sometime and see what's up, but considering I find most stock pickups in mid-high end guitars good enough, these are definitely not for me.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Is this real? It seems strange since the page is posted with punctuation and spelling mistakes. It just seems strangely written/edited for a new product release. Also, some of the other products seem weird too. For example, the YJM pot is $155! It looks like a normal bourns, and even if the taper is modified, you could get the premium bourns pots for about $145 less. However, its not April 1st, so maybe its all legit. If its real, its too rich for my blood, but I'd be interested to hear what the daring few thought.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

For that kind of price I'm going to want some vodka and a diamond encrusted box with whale penis leather liner.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

What is really sad is Blueman would change the magnets in there.

No reference as to what sort of magnets are in it, that I've noticed.

This line got my attention.

Each of these options is now available with any Custom Shop order, but in combination they lend our new premium Zephyr Silver pickups uniquely fast transients, wider but smooth frequency response, deeply rich harmonics, and unprecedented midrange tone density, with audible gains in string detail, articulation and overall definition. Slighter touch produces expressive sound, yet peak dynamics are more explosive, making your guitar feel more energetic and alive. We consider Zephyr Silver the most expressive pickups so far. They are not inexpensive, but from squeaky clean to buzzsaw grind, you'll hear and feel more power, projection and expression from any electric guitar.

Can I order a Custom JB or some other pup with these options?

Silver Wire Coils
Nickel and Stainless Steel Bi-Metallic Pole Pieces
Glass Fiberfill Nylon Bobbin
Cryogenic Treatment

Or are they exclusive to the Zephyr?:friday:

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

YJM pots are $15. That's a typo. If there are other typos it's just because we're in the eye of the NAMM hurricane.

As for the Zephyr silver wire pickups, I can tell you they're for real. While the price is for the Zephyr pickups, you will also be able to order pickups from the Custom Shop with any one or more of these design elements a la carte. So you could get a 59 with bi-metallic slug pole pieces, or a silver JB, etc.

When silver busts into the $100-200/oz range, after Goldman Sachs' vastly overprinted silver stock go belly up, I think this thing will not last too long.

Maybe Eddie Van Halen will buy one to go with his $600 Titanium Floyd Rose, but I can't see this being a popular item with average, working musicians in this day and age.

Sorry.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Believe me, I'm a huge fan of silver being an ideal conductor and being superior to copper. I also am aware of the advantages of cryogenics. I also am a realist, studied in economics and monetary theory and cannot see much of a future for the U.S. Dollar as it is, being printed out-of-control by a parasitic central banking system. If the U.S. Dollar was once again akin to an ounce of silver, I could see this being a practical and even affordable option. But the Dollar is on the verge of collapse, as economists, IMF and World bank heads alike are marking the Dollar for death as the world reserve currency.

It's not a conspiracy theory or assumption. It's just a matter of time.

Re: Seymour Duncan be trollin hard

Any custom shop humbucker set would run me $300 (minus tax and shipping). A zephyr set humbucker set is $1200. You have a difference of $900 for the "four distinct innovations". That's $225 per option. So, if I wanted a custom shop PGn/brobucker set with the "silver wire coils", I'd be looking at about $525 for the set. :eyecrazy:

As for the Zephyr silver wire pickups, I can tell you they're for real.

Maybe some at SD could record some clips of a zephyr p'up vs. a good ol' fashion p'up?
