Seymour Duncan Convertible Variable Power?

The Variable Power Control on my convertible doesn't seem to make that much of a difference, even when i turn it down to 5w. Anyone knows how to fix this so it will work more or less like a real attunetor?

I haven't seen one of those Convertibles around in a long, long time. Nifty amps though.
