Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Does anyone know why Mr. Duncan will have nothing to do with Chriss Green and the Fenderforum? It seems to me, that if Mr. Duncan wanted to expand/build his company/make more money, he would deal with people like Criss Green.:smack:

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Chris is remarkably 'tight' running his forum, he would not get along with this crowd *at all*

Besides what do you expect them to do?

i'm an FDP member too, but my GAS would never grow and blossom if it weren't for both forums lol.

How would dealing with a close minded control freak increase business? Exactly what money stream exists there? He already deals with Fender and hosts his own forum on his own dime. People who want to know about Duncans come here, not the fender forum.

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

When I mentioned Seymour-Duncan pickups over on the FDP as an alternative, I was attacked by the army of Bill Lawrence advocates... or was it just Becky Lawrence using multiple psuedonyms?

I literally was on the verge of buying some Lawrence pickups when this happened. Then I did a search for "Bill Lawrence" and found that approximately 80% of the posts came from 3 names and the writing was all eerily similar to the ad copy on Lawrence's site.

Somehow, I can't see whoever runs the FDP given Seymour an even break.

Please note, I have no direct experience with Lawrence pickups and they may produce the greatest tone in the world. However, I don't anticipate ever finding that out for myself.

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Sounds like a dodgy arrangement. Even this thread might cause some heat, provoking this forum owner to talk crap about Duncan pickups.

I'm certain that lots of people snoop around these parts.

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

I have never liked the vibe of the Fender Forum. I have lurked from time to time but havent really pulled much good info off that forum.

This place, on the other hand, is a goldmine for great insight and information.

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Each of these forums has a different purpose.

If you want to know about pickups (not just SD, but also DMZ, BN, BL, Fender, etc...), this is the place. You can even learn how to make your own pickup here. This is a very open, friendly, and useful forum.

Fender Forum is for people who have Fender guitars. I have a strat copy, not a Fender. No reason to go there.

Another difference I see is that people in Fender Forum don't seem (in average) as interested in modding guitars as people here... Therefore, they may not be the target audience for SD.

Anyway, whatever the reason, I like this forum as is... I really liked to see that a batch of Brobuckers was built to the specs of forum members (even though I didn't get one myself)

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Think of it as Food. On the fender forum you have to eat cheddar cheese all the time.

On this and other forums you can have any kind of cheese you want.

This was the case for sure at one point but I think it has calmed down quite a bit. It was getting really blatant for a while a couple years back. There seem to be more Kinnman and Lace supporters over there these days.

I think Duncan gets kicked around a bit because they area bigger company and tend to be less of a "pickup of the month" manufacturer. I have noticed that when a specific Duncan thread comes up over there or in the LP forum that a lot of users chip in with positive comments. (no pun intended Chip!!) :-)

Obviously we tend to be a bit biased here!! :smokin:

I agree. And I feel the same way about the Les Paul Forum and the Telecaster Discussion Page. Won't have anything to do with any of them...and vice-versa! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: I've been banned from all three for mentioning either my brother Bruce's amp biz (http://www.missionamps.com) or for mentioning Seymour Duncan or Lindy Fralin! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: Control freaks run all three of those websites...

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

Chris Green is a big fat tool. He's wants to have a monopoly on all the greens. That shyt ain't happenin'. He's gotta pick one shade of green like the rest of us, & move on, nukkka.

I'm with you Lew....I Used to be every bit as involved on the Fender Forums and I donated money to the website under the same screen name....I actually had quite a few friends on the FDP,especially after I'd send guys these cool presets that I dialed in on my Cyber Twin amp....I then found the FDP to be every bit as clicky as the LPF....The LPF was alot worse and if you went against the grain at all,a bunch of folks would bash on ya....

I went back to the FDP for a very short period of time while not being on this forum, but hands down, this is the best forum...I actually feel like you guys are my friends and brothers....I'm pretty close with quite a few of you guys, spoken on the phone,e mails,PMs,traded and bought stuff, modded pedals, shared info with each other...Stuff I never did on these other sites...

This is "The Place"......You guys make this place always worth coming back to for me!

That's because we're all mature individuals and with our own opinions on things...We manage to offer opinions, but at the same time also offer great resources of info...I've never seen a site that had such a diversement...You have great players, guys that know how to tweak stuff, guys that sell stuff, guys that build amps, guys that do guitar setups, just an amazing site with great people...

Just before they banned me, I'd also given a gift of a set of Duncan P90's to the Les Paul Forum to be auctioned off to benefit the forum. A few weeks later, they banned me anyway for mentioning my brother's amp biz. :laugh2: This, the Seymour Duncan Forum, is THE PLACE...I don't post or even bother reading the posts, anywhere else. And I've gained so much respect for Seymour and Co. that almost all of my guitars now have Duncan Pickups. I have Lindy Fralins in one of my Teles and Tom Holmes HB's in my Les Paul...all the rest of my guitars have Duncans. Lew

And you know what Lew? You've got the respect from everyone on this forum also and you're also just an all around nice guy to talk to and deal with....The loss those forums suffered, was losing a guy like yourself....

Confidence is a nice thing isnt it?

Re: Seymour Duncan/Fenderforum/Chriss Green

I haven't been on the forum for that long, but it seems to me that Seymour has a very healthy attitude about the forum. With all of the multi-axe owning guitar geeks on here, even if we talk about other manufacturers' pickups, with all of the guitars on here, a fair number of them are going to end up with Seymour's pickups........probably several different ones in each guitar over a period of time:laugh2:
