Seymour Duncan Jupiter doesn't fit mounting ring - Help required

Hi all,
I just took a plunge and bought a Jupiter bridge humbucker and quickly found it is larger than the norm. So much so it doesn't even fit into a mounting ring. I've got a few that I've tested e.g. Dimarzio and Bill Lawrence and... neither are suitable.

Has anyone here experienced this predicament?

Can someone please recommend a suitable mounting ring to buy so I can install this monster.

Cheers, Justin

I am able to force it but the bobbins protrude about 1 millimetre over the mounting ring plastic. This then means that the mounting ring squeezes on the tape/wrap and will make it awkward to move the pickup up and down height adjustment wise

I would think that once you've got the Jupiter set at the height you like, you won't be adjusting it that often, if ever, thereafter, so perhaps your concerns will go away. OTOH you can either file away a little on the offending insides or contact SD Customer Service and see if they'll send you a new, possibly a trembucker sized, mounting ring or look for one on eBay Australia.

Good point. You maybe correct. I've sent the Australian Seymour Duncan distributor an email as I've just found out the trembucker mounting rings hole is about 2mm bigger than that of every other pickup maker on the market.

Silly That they don't automatically include a correct ring with each purchase.

Did you by chance look under the foam to see if a mounting ring was there? I can't really remember, but I think my Dimebucker was like that.

My El Diablo also didn't fit the ring. (Must be a "rail" thing.) But a little work with a file fixed it right up. A little hassle, but do-able.

They used to include a special ring with similar pickups. Shape and size of the pickups has not changed.
SD are selling a specialty pickup they know will not fit any standard mounting rings.
It makes absolutely no sense that they would stop providing a mount that fits.
Unless they simply ran out of them. Supply chain issues are affecting all of us, every day.

Yes it is a bit silly isn't it. It just creates a delayed install situation.

So based on the above I can either.... use a sledgehammer, file or.... by a replacement mounting ring.

A file sound the go after I found the only 'in stock' ring online was in the UK for 7aud with a postage cost of 100aud. Hahaha hahaaa

See how you get on. If push comes to shove I have a spare trembucker ring I can mail from the US but it might take a while to arrive from Texas. And it will probably be too big.

I was just looking at the dimensions. The Jupiter coils are a fraction of an inch wider than a Dimebucker or Trembucker, but the mounting holes are a fraction of an inch narrower. That would definitely make for an oddball mounting ring.

I wonder if their custom slug or diablo ring fits it? Not that it would help much here, but for future reference.

Thank you for your kind offer I've just reached out to the Australian distributor and they are looking into it at the moment for me

Is it a regular humbucker or a trembucker?

Can you push the top through the mounting ring ant an angle so only the top lop protrudes?

That doesn't look promising
