Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

I am interested in Luca Turilli's tone and in his wiki page they mention:

"Pickups are Seymour Duncan TB-8 (bridge position) and Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell (neck)."

I can't find any info on TB-8. Is this a typo or is it something that's been renamed?

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

No such. SH-8 is the Invader, there is no TB spaced Invader.

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

Pretty sure if someone was anal enough like I am, a Seymour Duncan dealer would be able to order a Shop Floor Custom for a TB spaced Invader, but I have never tried so YMMV.

I see Frank is reading this thread so maybe he will offer some insight.

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

I haven't taken apart an Invader, but I know that a Detonator is already trem spaced, so I would assume the same is true with an Invader.

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

The Invader doesn't come in trem-spaced because it doesn't need to be.

Eh, it wouldn't hurt. I just installed one into a Telecaster and the E strings could use a little more of the magnetic field.

Although the Detonator is trem-spaced, the Invader isn't. (I've got both here. The Detonator is physically wider and the pole pieces are farther apart.)

interesting... thanks for posting this

Email the guy to see if he ordered a Custom Shop trem-spaced Invader and be done with it.

Maybe he put Invader screws in a TB-6?

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

God that Invader is so ugly haha. I hate those poles but they are huge and even if they dont totally cover the E strings it probably wouldn't make much of a difference in tone. I think it's more of a cosmetic thing. I've run regular and trem spaced pickups in my guitars with Floyds. It really just cosmetic IMO. If you are worried about performance then I wouldn't if I were you but if its a purely cosmetic thing then I feel you because if I'm buying a pickup to use in a guitar that has a Floyd I get the trem spacing. It's like a "why wouldn't you?" type of thing. You could call the cutom shop and ask for an Invader with trem spacing. I doubt it would be much more expensive than the production model.

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

I wish I had an F spaced invader.

On my fender strat, the pieces dont line up with the strings: but its nowhere near as bad as it looks on dominus' tele.

its probably a typo.

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

I'm pretty sure the gang at Duncan have already stated more than once that the Invader's 3 ceramic magnets and those huge-headed screws generate a field so large that there's no measurable difference between trem-spaced and regular.

I can't help it if Luca Turilli doesn't know what pickup he has, but if it's an Invader (not a Detonator), and it's not a custom-shop model with trem-spaced screws (which would be wasted money), and it's not another model that's been modded with Invader screws, it's not a TB-8.

The low E string sounds weak to me. :28:

Might swap it to the Detonator. :D

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

If you could find a picture of his guitar it would probably help a lot in narrowing it down. The Invader is pretty distinctive looking...

Re: Seymour Duncan TB-8 is it real?

I'm pretty sure the Invader doesn't need to be trembucker spaced.

Especially for playing pop-punk.
