Seymour Duncan's supply in India??

You guys should seriously look into your stock and supplier in India.... None of the metropolitan city stores or online companies are stocking your pickups (unless they are of an older stock) and the supplier mentioned on your website doesn't cooperate, they keep on saying Duncans won't be available for a couple of months from now on...

I have been scouring for the 59, JB and Distortion for the past three months, looking in every possible place, but to no avail :/
:banghead: :cussing:

And FYI, I live in Kolkata and every guitar store in the city tell me that the national wholesaler/supplier is out of stock... So the situation is the same everywhere... Many of my friends are also interested in buying Duncans but there's absolutely nothing to choose from...

The only option we have is to import the pickups from the US via a third party firm at double the price... And if the items turn out to be defective by chance, then the cash goes into the drain....

I sincerely request the PR and the Supply guys to look into the matter...

Dude! I buy my duncans new from ebay, eg DD NEW go for about $70 USD (less in AUD at the moment which is good for me!) plus shipping. Don't worry about local dealers. I don't!!:smokin:

I understand dude totally. You have more choice now then I had back i n2004. I had to order mine from Guitar Electronics. And when it arrived I had to pay a huge custom duty.
Did you try bajaoo.com . I am sure they have JBs and 59s, I have ordered a few Pots and Pickup rings for them a week back and have done businnes with them before .I find them very customer oriented.

Once again, I have to pay double the amount (180$ for each)... Not worth it...

Does not work well here. Custom Import duties are high.

Well I suggest hanging around here. And take tips/ advice on what pickups you should go in for. And then just wait for them to stock up. It may be a while. But it would be worth the wait. I always believe never rush. Go slow.

Re: Seymour Duncan's supply in India??

Sounds to me like a distributor problem. Perhaps, the contract is in the process of changing hands? The current distributor will only sell whatever stock it already holds. The new distributor will take some time to establish its own dealer network.

****en heaven!!!! Our limit is $400aud before we pay duty!!! Maybe if you know someone o/s like if you have any family in Australia (plenty indians here) or UK you could get them to purchase, then send it to you marked "gift" then no tax shall be bestowed !!!! Crazy idea but I've done it before

Correct that actually works best, IMO. Asking some friends or relatives in the US to pick them up. Even then you still have to pass custom checks at the Airport. I fully understand the sentiments of the original Poster. I want a Pearly Gates set. But I cant find them, I can see 59s,JBs, Custyom5 Invaders, and Dimes out here . Some our available both at the store or online other s need to be pre ordered. Its diff. I too get the feeling ther eis a problem with the distributor from what conversations I have had from vendors. They say they can order them if I want but they dont have them in stock at the moment.

Re: Seymour Duncan's supply in India??

India custom duties are a sham to all the musicians who want quality stuff.... Can't believe some of the high import costs for equipments which costs peanuts in the States....

Re: Seymour Duncan's supply in India??

Hello Everyone,

Alex Semple here. I manage Seymour Duncan's OTC export sales. India represents an exciting market for Seymour Duncan. We recently made a distribution change in India and our new partner is actively taking steps to properly introduce the product line. Rest assured that our Indian distributor is well aware of the strong demand for our pickups and will make them widely available to you soon. Thanks!

The limit is $1000 . It was all over the news a short while back when Hardly Normal and other retailers wanted it removed so the small man couldn't get around them charging higher prices, by buying online from overseas.

It was an epic display of greed.
