Guys..
I just want to know about ur opinion..
Which one do u like between SH-4b (JB)abd SH-11b (Custom Custom?
I know they have a different characterstic sound.
If I want play Modern Rock,
but also still have a vintage fat sound how could I do?
Coz, I want to replace my Epiphone LP Custom Pickup with SD.
I've bought SH-1n ('59) for the neck.
Now, I plan to buy for bridge position.
So... Can I have some advice?

:thanks:
Shany

Re: Seymour SH-4 or SH-11 ???

The Custom Custom is my favorite Duncan humbucker and is especially great in a bright or thin sounding guitar. I'm not a huge JB fan but I have heard them sound great for other people. Even though the tone chart on the Duncan site shows that he CC is hotter in the mids I think it is a more balanced tone than the JB. The JB always has a upper mid spike in my opinion and some guitars react well to it while others do not. My advice would be to try to determine if your guitar is bright or dark. If it's dark the JB may work and if it's on the thin or bright side the Custom Custom may be better. There are some other great options as well like the Custom or even the Jazz. There are some sharp guys on this forum so I'm sure you will get some other ideas as well. Good luck.

Vintage fat sound, you probably want the custom custom. I have a ec-400at, all mahogany archtop LP, with a JB, and the leads are super fat. Not vintage, but very, very good. Overall, the sound is high gain nice but, this is in a very heavy mahogany guitar. I like the JB alot, but in a thin mahogany guitar it can be disgusting.

In a LP a JB is pretty good for rhythm (not nearly as flabby as you might hear, but not the tighest duncan). Still, shes an all-arounder. If I played lead only, then it would be a tough choice between the JB and CC. But the JB is probably what you need if you need versatility.

I once had a JB for my LP; Honky, Nasally and then add more Honk and Nasal. It only sounded good under heavy distortion. Go for the CC. The odds of it working for you are better.

If you mean modern rock as in Queens of the Stone Age, the Custom Custom practically IS their sound. I've used it and it's got a nice "overwound vintage" sound. However, if you want 70s metal through modern heavier rock, I'd say the JB, because it can do metal if you need it to (ala Megadeth). Just my opinion. I have owned both.

Between them, I'd choose the SH-5 Custom.

Seriously, it should work better for classic paf-type sound than the other two, it has good lead sound, it has big tight bottom and some mids. Really balanced and bright, works for anything, if you adjust the screws and tone pot.

Though it isn't fat sound...

I'll get my coat..

+1 on that, or the pearly gates, but it wasn't really included.
