SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

WHoooaaaaa - reminds me of the Greer Relic Drive - I wonder if it is legit

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

...or a Twin Tube in a fancy aftermarket enclosure?

Harrisburg, PA - is that Bada Bing's store?

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

o yea, it looks like a twin tube with a different cover and an added knob or something...

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

It seems to make sense that SFX-04 is a brother would you say of the Twin Tube but I would of thought the forum would find out before it would go on the market (the SFX-07 is barely on Ebay and we've known about that for AGES!)

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

It's legit. I'd heard about it a while ago and there were rumors circulating... I can't wait to hear one!

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

The SFX-04 hasn't been released yet but it is supposed to be out this month.

I'm not sure where that one came from.

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

OK, you guys got me. Usually, I leak new product releases to the forum first, but Mike's Music, a loyal customer of ours, got a pre-production sample and he put it up on eBay, before the official release.

Anyway, it's legit. This is the long-overdue release of the SFX-04. We've been voicing and re-voicing this beast for nearly two years to make sure it's 100% right before release. If you like heavy tones, you'll dig the Mayhem.

Here's the skinny....

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Capitalizing on the success of the SFX-03 Twin Tube Classic, we’re proud to announce our latest stompbox, the SFX-04 Twin Tube Mayhem™. The Twin Tube Mayhem is a high gain guitar preamp that uses a duet of subminiature 6205 vacuum tubes and is voiced to evoke the heaviest sounds that define metal. The new-old-stock, USA-made Phillips Sylvania® 6205s represent the pinnacle of tube technology. They were designed and manufactured to meet the U.S. Government’s MIL-E-1 spec for reliability under conditions of severe shock, vibration, and temperature. They provide extremely long service life and exhibit virtually no tendency toward microphonics.

High-quality vacuum tubes are only part of the key to a great-sounding tube preamp. Too often, inexpensive tube gear runs in “starved plate mode,” where the tubes function like clipping diodes and do not actually amplify. The Mayhem sports a fully encapsulated, toroidal transformer to achieve the high plate voltage required for true tube amplification and maximum dynamic range. Additional gain is achieved with a high voltage, low noise, discrete Class A input stage. The solid state input stage increases the resistance of the stomp-box to microphonics. The result is maximum dynamic range, the most gain, and the heaviest tone one expects from a great tube preamp.

The Twin Tube Mayhem also features a user-selectable 4dB or 8dB boost. This allows for lead and rhythm levels to be set independently. Voiced for heaviest rock tones, the Mayhem offers raw tube sound, thick distortion, and present low order harmonics. The Twin Tube Mayhem also features true bypass, over 90 dB of gain, and a heavy-duty chassis with a nickel plated chassis and stylish “chicken head” knobs. A 16-volt AC transformer is also included.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! SNAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to check this out!

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Very very VERY cool bro...probably not for me (I'm still having a blast with my tweak fuzz though and hope to get a SFX-07 soon) but looks promising and interesting!

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Thanx Evan for the Info!
I am happy now ,since i was planing on a Damage Control pedal....I will wait now...I am excited to test one!

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Guys these are coming FAST. As you can see there are a few out there now, and they should soon be easy to find.

Right now I believe there are enough around that you guys (being the first to see this pedal) can probably order them from your favorite dealers and they'll be able to get them fast.

The key to this pedal is high plate voltage and NO CLIPPING DIODES! You ask: Are clipping diodes bad?" No, but they're found in many high gain tube distortion circuits and amps. So the high gain tube distortion is actually a hybrid of tube overdrive and a distortion pedal style clipping. This pedal overdrives entirely in the tube domain. So all the distortion you hear is from tubes. Rock on.

Re: SFX-04 sighting! What the.....

Ooooo... man, I really need to hit Guitar Row on Sunset in LA and give ALL the Duncan pedals that have been released since the Twin Tube a whirl. None of the shops down here carry anything past the booster and the fuzz pedal.
