Hi everyone... ok, so I'm working on a refinish of a Faded SG. I'd like to snazz it up with some cool finish. I contacted a guy about a pro-refin.... $450 - $500 !!! So... I might be tackling this myself.

Anyhow... what color would you suggest? I am heavily leaning toward Seafoam Green with black (small) pickguard and cream humbuckers. What say you?

Re: SG Color Poll

I vote tangerine BUT you HAVE to get cream pickups if you're going to do it. if not, scratch one off tangerine and go for metallic green.

Re: SG Color Poll

I voted for the TV Yellow. Many of your choices I think would look great though. My own personal taste though, is that white does not look that great on SG's though. I'm not really crazy with it on Les Pauls either.

Re: SG Color Poll

I'm a big fan of wood grain, & that doesn't look like a bunch of pieces, I'd try a burst of some sort, maybe fireburst, or brockburst, something to show off the wood, JMO.
If no, I'd go for the metallic green, maybe with black to highlight the angles, & chrome hrdwre

I have been jonesing for a white SG lately. White on white with chrome hardware, heaven.

Re: SG Color Poll

Have you removed the big pickgaurd yet? You might have a problem using the small style pickgaurd due to the route on these SGs.

Re: SG Color Poll

Out of what you got listed I would go with seafoam. If it was me I would go gold. Those gold top SG's with the maple fret boards they got now are sexy

Re: SG Color Poll

I had no idea a Gibson could look that good in a solid color. I have some metalic green nitro that I now what to do with. So I'm voting green.

Re: SG Color Poll

I haven't looked under the pickguard yet so I don't know about the route... I could always make a custom guard to extend out to cover the route.

Re: SG Color Poll

Wow... the results are stunning. Clearly I need to go with a green stain. LOL

Really no runaway winner at this point. I think the lesson is that there is no loser in this grouping...
