The ebony fretboard gives it a more bitey high end, which doesn't ring exactly the same as the rosewood fretboards. It's all a matter of taste, of course. Also, many of the SG Customs and Supremes have heavier Gotoh type tuning pegs and headstock binding, which adds a bit of weight. I'd really want to play one of those guitars before buying, WITH A STRAP! If you buy an SG, put a strap on the guitar in the store, and assess the balance, because lots of SG's are neck heavy. It makes them miserable guitars to stand with because the neck always feels like it's tugging on your left shoulder. I like SG's, but I'd opt for one with the heaviest body possible.
