SH-3 stag mag and SH-1 59' combo in a epi lp custom??

Hey i was wondering if anyone could provide some insight on whether or not this combo would work. I have a 59' in the bridge of a 95' epi lp custom and the stock pickup in the neck and was considering putting a sh-3 stag mag in the neck after reading some reviews that say this pickup can emulate a strat single coil to some degree when its split. I want versatility but also would like to be able to use these pickups when they're both engaged.

I love this guitar mostly because the neck is fast, the action is perfect, and i just like the feel and play ability of older used guitars (and i don't have the money to buy anything better at the moment), but the neck pick up is just muddy and I could use something much brighter.

I play classic rock, funk, alt, punk and many other genres but the music I write is mostly indie/noise/shoegaze and the epi lp just doesn't get that jangly sound that a strat or tele would (i also prefer the jag/mustang surf sound too). I play mostly clean and light overdrive and mostly use distortion just to generate feedback or other odd noises (big fan of sonic youth and glenn branca). Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

I would put the StagMag in the bridge. It has 16k which is pretty high output. Put the '59 in the neck. It's 8.1k will balance better with the SagMag in that position. The '59b will add a little more output to the neck position and a bit more mids, but still retain the clarity and character that the '59 is known for.

If your '59 is four conductor, put a split on that pup too. you can get some pretty good quack with both pups on in split.

Thanks for the info! Would a phat cat in the neck and the stag-mag in the bridge work, too? I've been doing a lot of research into the phat cats and I think Im going to go with one of those but would still like to have a high output pick up in the bridge as you suggested. High output pick up=more feedback usually which i dont really mind cause i play alot of noise rock

I had a Phat Cat bridge in an Epi LP and loved it in the neck position
