SH-5 and SH-2N combo

I just bought the SH-5 and SH2N and I'm wondering if I made the best choice?? I have a basswood Schecter diamond series damien 6. I play metalcore like as I lay dying, killswitch engage, August burns red, trivium, and also like born of osiris, arch enemy, in flames and so on......will this set up be good for this genre!?

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

It should be decent. I don't play stuff that heavy, but I've had a Custom & Jazz in my Explorer since 2002 or 2003 and I love it for stuff like Megadeth and Alice in Chains. Tone-wise I find the Custom to be similar to the JB, but with a lower frequency focus and tighter bass.

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

I don't play metal any more but I like plenty of it. I used to listen to and still like in flames and stuff like that. Those pups are very capable of that stuff if you have the right amp

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

Jazz is an excellent choice for the neck. Depending on your amp and tonal preference, the Custom could be very good. Duncan has the 21 Day exchange policy, so have them installed and try them out so you can answer the question yourself.

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

Oh I didn't know about the 21 day return that's cool! What brand amp would also go well with this set up and genre!? I've seen a couple vids of this setup with a Marshall amp and it sounded pretty good idk.....

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

It is a great combo! If you want more output or a different vibe, try the Black Winter in the bridge position.

Re: SH-5 and SH-2N combo

I have that exact combo, Custom bridge, Jazz neck, in one of my guitars right now, and it's great. Well-matched, articulate, versatile. Pair with a 5150 amp, and you can access the tones of all the bands you mentioned.

^^
Or try the "Big" Custom mod. A Custom with a double thick ceramic.
